I understand it's a small group. But if that is the value for him then no way I even consider moving him. The post was more to point out his trade value should be high. Really high. I also acknowledge he could use his size better. - coffee junkie
I'll put it this way, While I wouldn't trade him in a deal for Gleason, I would rather trade him than JvR in a Schenn deal. |

are you talking about Voracek? I'm on the fence about wanting him to go before I want JVR to go. Voracek is always noticeable. Always in the play. JVR can go games on end without notice. JvR may have a higher ceiling, but not much. I'm a big fan of what Vorack brings to the table. |

I'm not disagreeing, I'm interested why?
I think JVR has the higher ceiling. Plus the recent deal and then a trade might not look great to other players considering signing long term in Philly. But the way Voracek is playing out there right now and seems to fit Lavys system real well......... |

I'm on the fence, too. But JvR can finish. Voracek is a lot more active than I thought he'd be, and my preference would be to trade neither. |

I think JvR could be a consistent 35-40 goal scorer with the right center, and it could happen within a couple years. I'd hate to trade him and see him turn into John LeClair. |

Anyone on here interested in playing in an NHL12 league in about 30 minutes? My buddy is looking for 5 guys. I'm one of them. |

I
On a different note: MJL, last night you wrote that it was Jagrs fault for not picking up someone on the 2nd goal (I think). It was Jagr and Giroux that both had no one. Giroux was behind the net in no man's land and Jagr was lofting. I just saw the reply and the announcers are blaming multiple players. - coffee junkie
Here is what I wrote on the breakdown on that goal.
http://www.hockeybuzz.com...p?thread_id=94418&page=66
"Watch that game and see how bad it was, how could it be system related? personally, I don't favor the Flyers system. But this is beyond that.
I wish I knew how to imbed the picture on the Isles first goal scored by Moulson. Timonen has his man, Coburn picks up a late man. Go to the highlights and freeze it just as Moulson gets the puck in the dead slot unchecked. You'll see Jagr to the left of the net along the goaline on a nice cruise. Giroux skating behind the net looking at the Taveras. And Hartnell doing a nice outside turn completely away from the net. Not one of them turned around and tried to pick anyone up. Absolutely horrendous."

So i was just playing a HUT game... my team is pretty good.. 4 stars.. 90 overall offense.. 88 overall defense...
Bryz in net..
Playing a guy who has one of those "i bought everything" feel to it.. has Gretzky centering the top line kind of team...
I'm up 2-0 going into the 3rd period... then my team pulled a Flyers... Up 2-0... they put the 4th line on the ice... he scores... the 4th line is still on the ice... he scores again.. the 4th line STILL isn't coming off... he scores again... the 4th line is i guess playing the rest of the game.. scores again and again... now its 5-2 because the computer refused to put another line on the ice.
I hate how you can't change lines and use classic controller settings... its my major problem with EA sport games... either you use their controls or you're at a huge disadvantage |

No question he could be a special player. Voracek has some great potential but I think it is more as a setup man and 20-30 goal scorer. The recent JVR 4 year deal is an interesting piece of the equation to me. To me it diminishes his value a bit in the cap world. Although on the same hand Voracek's cap hit is a ?. I think I need a bit more info about negotiations with Homer and his agent to figure out that piece. I agree, not trading either of them would be ideal. But I am certainly interested in adding a young stud D man with our current state and the outlook for next year. |

I think his new contract was a terrible thing. His expectactions right now are kinda low being on an entry level contract.. if he's performing like this next year taking up 4m on the cap i think most of us will be pretty disappointed.

I'd look for Voracek to get somewhere in the 3.5M range.

The team needs to play better. No way I'm trading either of those guys for someone not in the first pairing on D. They're capable of playing better. Let them go through these struggles together. We have NHL quality defensemen playing right now on the team. Hold out for the big fish to replace Pronger. |

Well played Sir. Sorry for my lack of research. I only read the post right after I blamed Giroux and you came back and said I was mistaken and blamed Jagr. |

If I did say you were wrong there, I was the one who was wrong. All 3 Forwards were culpable on that play. Before I rewatched the replay, I thought it was Giroux who picked up a man, when it was Coburn.

Using the building for the future theory, adding a young defenseman like Schenn, is the same mentality they're using up front. |

There are some interesting options for defense this summer... Here is a list of 10 dmen under 30 becoming a UFA this offseason.
(In no particular order)
1)Dennis Wideman
2)Ryan Suter
3)Tim Gleason
4)Carlo Colaiacovo
5)Shaone Morrisonn
6)Johnny Boychuk
7)Chris Campoli
8)Nicklas Grossman
9)Sami Lepisto
10)Derek Smith
Don't think any first pairing dmen are becoming free agents this off season under the age of 30...

If he was negotitating with Homer... he would have walked out with a 9 year deal with a cap hit of 4.9 |
