Timonen didn't flub the pass. It hit a shin pad and bounced all the way out to center ice. Did you see how far the puck went out of the zone? He was absolutely right on top of Timonen. Timonen has a split second to make a play. The checker coming at Giroux was in full flight and continued right on to Timonen. Who had only one play to make, and he attempted the right one. With that pressure up high, and Bailey also up high, Giroux has to send the puck the other way. - MJL
He put it off the boards trying to send it back to G, but then it hit Martins shin pads.. it looked to me like he didnt get all of the pass. Timonen hesitated when the puck got to him.. originally I thought he had mishandled the pass.. he just hesitated.. he tried to force the pass and it back fired. |

Check my edit..
I agree with you that guys were playing as individuals and really not helping each other out, but on that play Timonen was not under pressure before the pass.. he was standing at the point.. both he and Giroux could have and should have done a better job. - jak521
Timonen absolutely was under pressure. So much that the only option open to him was to dump the puck deep along the boards. Giroux needs to move the puck in the other direction in that situation. and I guarantee, when the Coaches break that play down on film, that's exactly what they'll say. With the pressure up top that the Isles had there, sending the puck to the point is the dangerous play. Sending the puck down low where the Flyers would have the Isles outnumbered. Is the safe and corrrect play. |

Please tell me they don't really chant that.
I thought it was bad enough that the noobs couldn't even pronounce the historic "Let's Go Flyers" chant properly. - rockychocbill
no. it was the extremely annoying young woman directly behind me with a shrill voice saying this the whole (frank)ing game, except for the few times when she said "fly boys". i just need to stop going to games. |

I disagree. Turning back and resetting is the proper play.. take it out of the zone.. never force it back to where it just came from. |

He didn't hesitate at all. He attempted to make the only play he had. The puck doesn't bounce that far out into center ice if Timonen flubbed the pass. He didn't force anything. It was the only play he had. |

meant odd man breaks, not off. Ummm that female dog needed a punch in the face by the end of the game. I'm sure if they were winning she wouldn't have annoyed me as much. I was so pissed when I got home I put a movie on instead of center ice. - nastyflyergirl

With every post you keep changing your mind. Timonen is at a stand still. The checker coming at him is in full flight. Taking the puck out is still a danger of being taken over and losing the puck. The right play and only play for Timonen there is to dump the puck deep. It's basic fundamentals. Timonen as a veteran, who has played the point on the PP for many years, has the experience to know what to do there. |

Like I said Bryz can come out of this weekend looking like a champ. I hope everyone that stated that Bob was hung out to dry better say the same stuff when Bryz is playing instead of shredding him like cheddar cheese - bigmookalookie
Hung out to dry is hung out to dry no matter who is in net. How you perform when you are hung out to dry is another matter. Bryz is the veteran goalie who is paid to provide Vezina caliber goaltending when the defense breaks down. Bob's the sophmore goalie who is only in his second year in North America.
Bob made several very tough saves last night and showed excellent rebound control in the loss. If Bryz does the same, even if the Flyers lose, I will not be shredding him.
Regardless of who is in net, team defense needs to improve or this team is toast. That doesn't need to be addressed by a trade, it needs to be addressed by the coach and players on the team. It isn't a talent issue.

He was skating backward and the puck left his stick.. When he received the pass.. Im looking at the video now, it is paused after he gets the pass... he was at the Blue Cross symbol by the blue line.. Martin is BEHIND Giroux and about 2 feet from the top right portion of the circle. Bailey is also about 2 feet from the top left portion of the circle.. |
