Still going to disagree. Yes, we needed to see what some of our young D could do. What we didn't need to do was to sign Jack Hillen. We should have gone into the season with Weber, Suter, Bouillon, Klein, and SOB. And then let Blum, Ekhom, Josi, Laakso, and Ellis fight it out for the 6th spot. Considering Bouillon had questions about his health, there is a chance 2 of those 5 would have made the opening night roster. By the time Bouillon came back, we would have known Ekholm and Laakso were not ready for the NHL. Then we would have had only 3 guys (Ellis, Josi, and Blum) fighting for 1 remaining position. We would have kept Blum and sent Josi and Ellis down to Milwaukee. Then as the season progressed, we would have seen that Blum had lost his game, Weber and Suter would get banged up, and eventually Josi and Ellis would have made their way to Nashville. In the end, we would have had Weber, Suter, Josi, Ellis, Klien, and SOB as our top 6. Bouillon would have challenged Klein and SOB for ice time, but usually been the #7 D. Blum would have been in Milwaukee, like he currently is.

If DP signed SOB over Hillen and Josi didn't get hurt at the beginning of the year, Blum would have started off in Milwaukee where he belongs. The preds would be sitting in 1st place right now with more than 62 points. $550K was all DP was saving. Home ice and banners is what will keep Suter in Nashville!!!

Looks like Poile has added yet another 4th line journeyman forward. Brandon Yip, welcome to Nashville.
- dgutzman

A move like this just pisses me off knowing DP let Ryan Jones walk for nothing and could be helping the team more than Yip. Yip is half the player and price.

Very good point..Forgot Josi was injured. But you do confirm my premise that SOB over Hillen would have made us a much better team. Hillen, and in my opionion, Bouillon, are nothing more then a good #7 D-man to keep around

Heavy rumors involving Andrei Kostiysyn to us.

Also, a good read from nhl.com http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=612537

Solid piece that underscores many of the coaching positives Barry Trotz offers. Also underscores the respect players have for Trotz, contrary to a few of the more wild-ass postings I've seen over time. (IE: when we lose one game in a row.)

Any word on Suter? I just wonder if him being hurt helps or hurts his chances of resigning in NSH? In other other teams other teams take a risk of signing him to a big K, not knowing when he will return??? Just a thought...

that third sentence makes no sense. but i think you are asking if him being hurt reduces his chances of signing a bigcontract later. IMHO, no impact unless he has a long term concussion.

He (Suter) flatly stated that the upper body injury was not his head. I imagine shoulder sprain or something similar. Sounds minor to me but that's just my guess.

Can any STH explain to me what "Hockey Bucks" are and what I can buy with them or why I get them?

The only way you can get them, and you'd have them already if you qualified, is if you

A) Pay off your season tickets in full at the first invoice or
B) Spend over a certain amount (I believe $2500) on those season tickets

So if you're a day 1 season ticket holder who scraps and scrapes for every penny to put towards the Preds, but you can only afford one seat in the upper deck on the 20/20 plan you won't get any Hockey Bucks, but if you bought season tickets for the first time this year and meet the above criteria then you get them.

I wish they'd come up with a program to reward people for the amount of time they've been loyal to the team rather than the fact that they have one extra seat on their account. I don't like programs that seem disloyal to your most loyal fans.

It's like a gift card that you can use for pretty much anything at the arena. They put $50 on mine at the beginning of the year and I had to use it by the end of Dec. They then put another $50 on it for the second half of the season.

You should have received a gold colored plastic Preds card (same size as a credit card) with your name and Preds acct number on the card at the beginning of the season along with guidelines, restrictions, etc. On the back is a web address and a card number. Log on to that address and you can check your available balance. It's like a pre-paid gift card.

The first half of loaded money had to be used before the end of 2011. Unused $$ are lost. It was reloaded at the beginning of January and new cash also has a time limit.

Can spend the cash at pro shop, on tickets, etc. I think you can use it for pretty much anything Predators related at the arena.

Been a STH for 6 years and never heard of this before (prob my fault). Just got a letter saying I have $250 on it from first half that they are letting me carry over to buy tickets...The marketing dept might be doing a good job, but they don't communicate very well. JMO

My understanding is if you spend enough, you can exchange them for concession drinks/food or the gift shop. But You have to spend a boat load in ST's for it to be worth anything.

It was in the STH renewal packet - first tab under "Early Renewal Benefits". It was just one blurb/paragraph titled "2011-2012 STH Rewards Program" and it looked meaningless to me so I passed by it. Plus, there is a lot of that kind of stuff in the renwal and it's easy to overlook. Who has time to read it all?

It was a few days later when I noticed something else about the rewards program and began to look a little deeper. I realized then that it was a really good deal that was based largely on how much money is spent on seats per account.

Glad that they have chosen to honor the expired money for you in some manner (tickets). It is the right thing to do.

Is Yip a one or two way contract?

was this our big deadline trade? or does this just mean something is going down soon?

One way.

For those playing along Weber was +2 tonight so is even without Suter in 3 games.
