Somewhere Richy and Wides are cackling at the Flyers play tonight
- archion113

They know a season isn't one game. And they know they are on teams looking up at the Flyers in the standings. They aren't stupid.

That's certainly one opinion (emphasis there), and you are entitled to it. The point is that if there is someone available who - even in very limited ice time - could contribute something more (be it physicality, defensive presence, whatever) to the team, then why is that person not playing? And neither of us know for sure the reasoning here, so let's not play pretend.
- Hulk Stroganoff

There is no pretend. How much did Harry Z play tonight? How many shifts did Harry Z get in the 3rd period? There's only facts being given.

The Isles deserve some credit, too.

Within their last 6 games, they have beaten Detroit(5-1), Washington(3-0) and the Flyers pretty handily

- Jsaquella

Nabokov has been playing like he did with the Sharks. Who woulda thunk!?!?!

for sure. their top two lines are good. obviously JT especially. nabby was strong in net. they committed few errors. played a good road game. took what the flyers gave them (which was a lot) and rolled.

Tonight's game is a product of having two games on the weekend against chief rivals. The Flyers have totally dominated the Islanders for the better part of 4 years, they got caught looking ahead. Sure it was a miserable effort, and it sucks to see such a lack of compete, but this happens to every team in all sports. So while disappointing, there is certainly an explanation for tonight's debacle.

If there is a lack of effort this weekend, it would be far more troubling then what we saw tonight.

- PLindbergh31

I disagree. The problems tonight were the same problems that have been plaguing them for a while. Bad team defense and poor puck management. Looking ahead is a weak excuse for the performance tonight. It was far beyond that.

Im still amazed. Four breakaways tonight and two of them when the Flyers were on the PP, thats just piss poor.

i think the team d and puck management could at least be by-products of overlooking the isles. either way, i agree that those factors need to improve. hopefully those factors don't ultimately end up being our undoing, but there's been a lot of that the first half of the season...

Those issues just didn't show up tonight. I don't see much sign of it improving.

Stating theoretically that someone who was not involved at all in tonight's game (and for all I know could be in China, that's why it was hypothetical) would have made no difference in its outcome... is not giving facts.

the flyers are going to give up shorthanded breakaways to the opposition on occasion; that just gonna happen when you have four forwards on each unit. but yeah, it was ugly.

There are how many rookies in the lineup? With this kind of youth comes mistakes. It's frustrating at times no question, but the team is still on pace for a 106 point season. That's pretty damn good. And that is without Pronger for majority of the season, and Bryzgalov performing far below expectations.

Well I'm on pretty safe ground stating that Sestito or any other player they brought up from the Phantoms wouldn't have made a difference over Shelley being in the lineup. And the facts from the game show that.

It's also a product of using forwards on the point of the PP.
