30-40 goals a year is more than a good player.
- funmaster18

Yea, its Jeff Carter... Where he puts up good numbers, but you just wish he would be more physical and play with more.....LECLAIR.

So which one do you move to wing?

Schenn

I don't mind trading him if it betters the team, but not if it's along with another top prospect like Schenn +. That's too much to throw away on 1 player, IMO.
- funmaster18

I agree, and I also think that the "+" would end up being another top pick or two.

I wouldn't be against a Luke Schenn deal, so long as there's more pieces involved

You do realize that at age 22-25 or so, LeClair was criticized for the exact same things JvR is criticized for?

so what's his "true potential"?

50-60 goals a year?

- Crimsoninja

Actually, yea. If he played like LeClair... 50-60 would be his top potential.

I think Schenn and Jvr can be replaced from within by some of the youth in Adirondack. At least what they are giving us now, as I believe their potential is higher than most give them credit for. If push comes to shove I think you let Jagr walk to keep Voracek.
- JoeRussomanno

I don't see any players in Adirondack right now, that can replace Schenn and JVR. You never know if another Matt Read might be around, but I don't know who that is.

I could see that also.

Yea but coots is a shutdown center you don't want too move him to the wing

I dont want any GM for the Flyers that is going to say... We are going to sacrific this season and possible the next so we might win in a few years...

And I'm sorry if I feel we have 3 centers under 25 with All-star potential and I feel we could move 1 of them because we have 0 defensemen under 36 with All-Star potential...

- RooNosHockey

It won't be enough to get Weber.

John LeClair's don't grow on trees. I would be plenty happy with JVR scoring 30-40 goals a year and I was happy with Carter doing it. I'm happy with how the Carter trade worked out, but it often seems if you aren't a Crosby or LeClair, 30-40 goals isn't enough.

Yup, but LeClair was being misused as a Center. And he had to play with someone with fire like Lindros before he picked it up...

If we could get Schenn and a 1st for JVR I would do the deal. This years draft looks to be one of the best in a while the more 1st rounders we can get the better.

LeClair played wing and center for Montreal. He was playing center when he was traded to Philly, but he had most of his success as a winger in Montreal.

The point is, how eager are you to risk JvR finding his "Lindros"?

I think he and Giroux will be great together once JVR gets there.

I probably would as well, because the draft this year is pretty deep, and having two first rounders could also allow them to move up and land a top prospect.

So you rather move coots on the wing. You wouldn't mind seeing him with g and jags but coots locks down who ever he's up against so wouldn't you want to keep him at center

Lindros was HUGE part of LeClair scoring as much as he did. You think without Lindors, LeClair would have scored between 50-60 goals for 3 seasons straight? No way, without Lindros, LeClair is still a very good player but he is not a 50 goal player IMO

The point was that LeClair getting older and maturing as an NHL player was a big contributor to his success, just like it will help JVR. I'm not trying to undervalue Lindros' role in LeClair's success.
