In order to get a franchise player like webber your going to have to give one up....and i dont mean the 6 game beast JVR...You all know deep down inside its gonna take giroux...if im the flyers i turn around and say no thank you.....

Who would actually do Giroux for Webber?

Except you have to do another deal to make it work under the salary cap. Trading Schenn and JVR for Weber puts you over.
- lindros8888

Trading Weber for Schenn and JVR works under the Cap. The problem is you would then have to replace JVR and Schenn as well as resign other players such as Voracek. Or Jagr if he comes back.

All im saying is if im nashville i need a top scorer then ill give you a top 5 dmen...not for JVWHO and a rookie schenn and a late first rounder....As much as we hope other teams are not that stupid...

I think Schenn and Jvr can be replaced from within by some of the youth in Adirondack. At least what they are giving us now, as I believe their potential is higher than most give them credit for. If push comes to shove I think you let Jagr walk to keep Voracek.

Not much unless, of course, it has some sliced rib eye steak to go along along with it.

On CapGeek it shows you would be over. But either way... you are right, you still have to replace and sign others.

Of course these are other factors. JvR's contract goes up and so does Coburn's. Then yes, we have to re-sign Voracek and Jagr somehow, which makes the forward position even more complicated. We get Weber but how do we make things work by filling in for Jagr, Voracek, JvR and Schenn.

If your Nashville why wouldn't you ask for Giroux in return? Everyone is saying that Weber is a top defenseman and is a Norris Trophy contender. So why woldn't they expect the same quality in return?

They could somewhat replace what JvR and Schenn are doing now, not sure about long term. There's some skill in ADK now, but I don't see a Pronger or Schenn.

Couturier and Read are still a couple of excellent pieces going forward. Frankly, rather have them than JVR and Schenn.

I'd rather have all of them, and pursue a free agent defenseman, rather than trade them for one.
