i like Bryz's personality and agree with Jsaq that you have to differentiate between his on-ice play and his personality.

Having said that, I think some folks who really want to win a Stanley Cup, myself included, who view winning a Stanley Cup as a personal thing (rightfully or wrongfully, healthily or unhealthily), get a little bit put off by a guy who says that there are no problems here on the earth, etc. I mean he's right, right? Of course. But the fact is that we are listening to him because he's a goalie on the team that we want to win the Stanley Cup. Not having won for a long time is a problem. He's here to help solve that problem. But he is saying there are no problems and that's not what a Cup-starved fanbase necessarily wants to here from their new #1 goalie.

- wilsonecho91

I guess, but I live in a reality where one thing really has nothing to do with the other.

I guess it would be better for some if the team had to use the cops to break in to his house after a loss where they find him eating his own excrement and cutting himself after he kills his family.

That really doesn't sound any dumber than the other theory.

Rumors are circulating that the #Flyers could be talking with the #Hurricanes about a trade between Jakub Voracek and Tim Gleason.

- griouxmvp2012

There's no rumor. A blogger who follows the Canes suggested it would be a good idea. That's the rumor.

It'd be like Bill or one of the other bloggers suggesting that it'd be great if the Flyers could get Weber for JvR.

Off topic story about why i love being a Flyer fan...

Moved to Orlando about 6 years ago to be closer to my mother and father who retired from South Jersey to Orlando (they love disney). Mom had just finished her battle with breast cancer and my dad went into heart failure due to sarcoidosis spreading from his lungs to his heart. So me and my brother moved down here to be closer to them...

Now on game days that none of us work, we all drive over to the folks house to watch the games. Everytime i wear my jersey outside people will drive by and roll down their windows and yell either, "Go Flyers!!" or "Flyers Suck"... To which i assume is a ranger fan.

If i walk to the mailbox here (our mail is kept in mail centers here), women literally stop and say, "Go flyers, are you from philly?".

I love being a Flyer fan.

- archion113

I live in Lexington, KY and have a Flyers cap I wear A LOT. Been stopped quite a few times by someone saying "Yeah Flyers" or "Nice Hat". Never been told flyers suck though...being 6'2" 235 lbs probably helps in that area...that and the fact that New Yorkers don't seem to take to K'ntuckuh! (I have also had it observed to my by locals in my wife's home town in southern KY that: "You ain't from around here" ).

I actually am about to marry a country girl. From a small town in North Carolina. Met her downtown here a few years back.

First child on the way! No way in hell that i'm moving to a true southern state though. They aren't normal people!

Whats the boards consensus regarding which new players are likely to be in a Flyers uniform come trade deadline? (besides Gleason...)

Bryan Allen, Ladislav Smid ?

What will it take to get Ryan Suter deal done ?

any forwards on the radar ?

- MrBigglesworth

Smid has been one of the only remotely bright lights on our godawful, horrible and banged up defence. can't see it.

Chara didnt win anything either until last year. Weber helps against other teams top lines. Need a shutdown guy who can take control out on the ice.
- stveshdy

Weber and Chara both do all that. I'm just saying until the team as a whole buys into or manages to execute team defense on a consistent basis, One guy isn't gonna be the end all.

I look at it as a show on HBO, that edits hours of footage down to a fewminutes and things getting taken way out of context.

Far more telling to me is a guy after a bad game, cursing his own effort and saying he sucked and being visibly angry. If Bryz was talking that universe stuff after the Tampa Bay game, I'd agree that him being goofy is a very valid beef.

But he's pissed off when he loses. Watch the post game. The frustration is obvious.

so because a player gets traded, that means he is a bust?
- nastyflyergirl

it doesn't make sense to trade a player that has a cap friendly hit one would think you'd want those savings

Is that low? I like 99% of all Flyer fans... we're very passionate about our opinions of our team.

Its part of being a Flyer fan.

- archion113

I was being (not so) coy.

Anyhoo, I love the passion of the Flyers fan. The decline of smarts of the average Flyers fan is reflective of the local media, unfortunately. Grow up hearing how the problem has been the goalie since 1987, you get a generation believing no one on the team is responsible for failing to win the Cup except the goalies since 1987.

i get that. all i'm saying is i can see why his happy go lucky tigers kill you and the universe is humangous big persona rub people the wrong way at this stage of his philly career. if he had won a cup in phx (or even anaheim) as the starter, i think fans would have even less patience for that with the way his first season has gone to date.
- hammarby31

Rubbed who the wrong way? For like a week, Bryz was a star when all that Tiger killing talk happened. At this point we were on a winning streak. A week later the streak came to an end and the first thing people blamed it on were his comments on 24/7. The guy reads books and watched discovery channel and was voicing what he's learned. Somehow that's a bad thing. I suppose players are suppose to remain mind numbingly dumb and dull.

that's all true as well. and i loved that he threw himself under the bus and owned his performance. most fans clamor for honesty, and when it actually arrives, they can't handle it. that goes for the media, too.
