if he was so good and had a "great" contract why was he traded?
- 2Real

so because a player gets traded, that means he is a bust?

If Kimmo can get 6.33 on the open market, Suter can get 7.
- bradleyc4

Timonen never hit the open market, they traded for his rights and signed him before he hit the market, which probably inlfated his deal either by years or cap hit.

I would of been fine with that plan also. I also have no problem with Bryz in net Sat and Sunday either. The Flyers need to give him some consecutive starts after the break. Time to ride the horse.

Said that as well earlier..

Its not about fatigue its about doing a few things..
You keep Bryz's confidence growing tonight.. you give Bob a good test on Saturday and give Bryz a great game to set his eyes on right before the break. Thats all.

- jak521

I see your point and agreed at one time. Two things changed my mind, Bobs record against the Isles, and the likelyhood that Bryz would be sharper on Sunday after playing on Saturday IMO.

Perhaps the attendance isn't enough then? I remember there being an awful ton of Flyer fans at that game, and a lot of other road games but I think if they put together a better product than what they have now people will flow in.
I know the Flyers haven't always been a contender but the few years they weren't fans stayed loyal cuz (at least for me) they knew the team was dedicated to winning.
It's a shame cuz I know the Phillies needed like 15 years of empty stadium to learn this.

- JoeRussomanno

They sell at a 97.3% capacity clip, which means they're 19th in terms of selling to capacity, according to ESPN.com.

There's always Flyers fans at road games, Philly fans do travel well.

But the thing is, unlike the Preds, there's never been a question of the Flyers intentions. They want to win the Stanley Cup every year. Fans buy into that and go to the games.

Bryz is such a goofball, if he was playing better he'd be a hit in Philly.

Yes, players only get traded because they are terrible. But then I guess that means we trade terrible players for other terrible players because there's no way a team would trade anyone with value.

should read a little bit more.. I clearly explain why I feel as though Bryz should have gotten the start tonight...
- jak521

Let Lava decide who plays, he knows what is right for the team. Bob seems to have the Isles number and Lava looks at stats like that.

Bobby Mac and EJ Maguire said on draft day he is like a combination of the Staal brothers (Jordan and Eric)

i wouldn't do this.

Um. No. I'd rather they stand pat, try to re-sign Jake (who already has hinted that he wants to stay) and see what the future holds for Pronger's health and potential big name UFA signings in the summer. If Carolina wants something like Harry Z., Testuide, and a third rounder for Gleason, I'd kick that around a bit if I were Holmer.

i'm beginning to think "goofball" just doesn't work in this town, regardless of sport, for key positional players. fans are way too serious about winning. i can't think of any goofball that's won something though, so it's hard to say if fans would embrace that attitude even with a championship being delivered. my gut tells me no.

Yep. Wayne Gretzky....sure he scored 215 points in a season, holds or shares more than 61 NHL scoring records, and has his number retired league wide...but he was traded TWICE!!!

He's a piece of poop.

Bernie Parent was a goofball
Edit: if fans understood sports they'd want their athletes to stay loose too.

I agree with that!! I could see a whacky bullpen guy, preferably left handed but for all the other sports, no way.
