Well, I give Gainey credit for trying the 5-year plan. Did not work. poop happens (or in the case, does not happen)

Makes no sense to try piecing that puzzle together into something it will never be.

Re-tooling is just dumb overall.

I agree, so rid your organization of the people who (frank)ed it up to begin with, stip it down to the bare core, add prospects and picks, and start over. Yup the team ill suck, but at the end of it all will be some light at the end of the tunnel for fans who see a team who has a bright future.

You'd be miserable if the habs missed the playoffs for a couple of years. What you're talking about is an even worse team than you're seeing now. What you're proposing would require trading Price, because he's good enough to stop you from getting a real good lottery pick.

I would take 8th in a second, but I don't see it. Not when they lose games like tonight. They're just good enough to not. Ottom out, but not good enough to make the playoffs at this point. Too many 1 point games. They would need a 7+ game winning streak.

Yup, but the promise of a well built team, with a future, sure seems much better than the retool garbage we have seen in the last 20 years. It all ended the same, badly, time to do it right for once. Most hab fans will except losing this way, here's the thing, they are tanking anyways, on purpose or not, the retool was a fail, so retool again, and put the team 5 more years behind, again, or finally do it right?

Don't be ridiculous. They need to go 25-10-1 to make it.

They would need to lose more than what they already are.
The absolute best case scenario is they finish 4th to last and I don't think it will be that low.

Now hold on a minute. What if PK was traded for Getzlaf, and I know that would be highway robbery by the Ducks but then maybe, just maybe ...

This year, now take the veterans off the team for next year, they will be worse, much worse, and play the youth until they get better. Yup. They will suck, use the picks/prospects you get from these vets and build yourself a good team, finally.
