Personally I'd try to avoid trading PK as he has had quite a few things working against him.
He had the sophomore jinx and on top of that in his 2nd year he was asked to play like #1 which he should have been eased into.
PK should be a 2nd pairing D for a couple of years, Dmen normally hit their prime MUCH later than forwards.

Build from the net out, Price check, gotta have faith in PK. Will we be this impatient with all our kids?
It's his 2nd friggin year.

We need a guy - dare I say it - like Brian Burke

Great GM, but his love for his coach will be the cement shoes that drowns him.

If a 22 year old kid is a problem in the room, then maybe there's a problem with the vets.

I remember giving up on a kid who couldn't score 20 goals and the running joke was that if he scored as often as he fell on his ass he'd score 50.

Guess how many 50 goal seasons that kid went on to have, forgive me if I believe in patience.

However the chance at a really big bonafide number one point getting center who has already won a cup and an olympic gold medal who is still just 26 doesnt somehow sway this even a bit, im not saying PK wont be fine, or that he is a bust, but the habs have needed that center 20 years and counting.

Oh, I do not doubt that, one bit. But you know in MTL your a God, just ask you. The blog is kind of intriguing, no? EE is in the room, something is going on in there IMO.

Having said that if you have a straight up for Getzlaf or Parise, you try to clone Subban and get them both.

I don't think you trade PK... but there is always a deal out there that might make sense (if unlikely)

The only guys I would not consider trading are Max, PK, and Price.

Anything else is fair game.

Habby, if he is a problem in the dressing room, he has to go, that rarely changes. Only for an upgrade, come on man.

The other day you were talking about what we know and don't know in regards to the past and the future. I didnt agree with it, but I respect it. When it comes to what's happening in the locker room I really don't think we have a clue, regardless of what's being said. I don't know the kid, but he speaks well for someone his age and who's a pro hockey player, I think there's a big difference between him being disliked, which might be the case, and him being a problem, which I doubt. I really believe a lot of this is fueled by his age and colour. There's been lots of really good young players who've needed to mature AND be given a chance. I think blaming PK is convienent. Just like blaming Price was a few years ago.

I don't trade for Parise... he will be in NJ or Minny next year, regardless.

SO then after we get this C then we need to get an offensive D.
I'm all for getting Getzlaf for example, but I'd rather trade a package of other players.
We need the big centre but we also need some good offensive D and who knows if Markov will be back.

I think it comes down to where we draft and who we can draft. I'd rather try to draft a big center int he top end of the draft and bring him up with the rest of youth on the team (Max, PK, Price , etc..) rather than trade for a big name guy you might have trouble re-signing and will sit on the roster for 2-3 years before his value is worth it, given the Habs will not compete before then.

My concern about Getzlaf is that he's been hurt the last 2 seasons and this year he's not playing as well as in the past.
Make an offer for him using plek and one of Tinordi or Beaulieu.

Beauchemin scored his 2nd of the game.

Ducks clearly won that trade.

AgrEEd.
And if the BPA is a winger then draft him and package Pleks, next year's 1st ++ for Getzlaf
Gionta-Getzlaf-top draft pick
Cole-DD-Patch
AK-eller-Moen

I could live with that and if you draft a big C you can package Pleks or DD for a big winger.
I only say Pleks because I think he can get you value back, not that I want him gone.

I'm not entirely sold that PK will be an offensive powerhouse. I get that he's 22 and will get better but I'm not sold that he's a Norris candidate.
