At what point the the habs realize it's in their best interest to no win too many games from here on out? - number_23
Fawk, I hate that arguement, as the HABS showed a couple of years ago, you just need t otget into the playoffs to have a chance at the cup, the Presidents Trophy is nice but means d!ck sh!t if you do not win the cup...
Therefore you need to be one of the top 16 teams in the league to have a chance at the cup and there is no guarantee that throwing games/seasons wins you cups in the years to come (hello NYI, EDM just to name a couple).
The leaque is very competitve as it sits, most teams are just a few players from being considered cup contenders and a quick injury or slump can throw the best seasons right in the toilet, look at the leafs start to were they are now, still contending for a spot but no where near what they were at the start of the year. Now look at the HABS, an absolute train wreck this year, yet with the way they are playing the last couple of games, throwing a few wins together has them right back in the race, whether it is all because of injuries or the teams play, there is a chance they contend for a playoff spot THIS YEAR, I would rather see them fight to get into the playoffs every year, make adjustments and try again the next year, then live through what the NYI fans go through year after year.

I didn't read this...just know that the habs aren't making the playoffs...too far behind, too many teams in between. With this being a REALITY, time to get the best draft pick you can.
Besides, even if by some miracle the habs made the playoffs...they'd be burnt out but game 1...and would most likely be swept out...

Oh sure, you're allowed to post a counter opinion.
