On that NESN video, you know it's high quality play-by-play when the guy is so desperate to defend the Bruins player that he starts going on about Ference's thoughts and beliefs. I felt like I was watching a hockey replay with a Miss Cleo recording dubbed over what should have been an intelligent hockey analysis of the play.

"Ference comes in with a head of steam and check the kid from behind. He's going to get a major penalty and probably a game or two even though McDonaugh SHOULD have known better than to stick himself face first one foot away from the boards."

That's the best I can do to defend Ference's check, and honestly, I think 3 games is too much. Players need to be properly coached on how to take a hit and if you watch all the new kids coming in, they can't... it's ridiculous. How do you know not know, at a PRO level, that you're going to get railed if you place yourself where McDonaugh was. DUMB!

edit: so summary, Ference gave a dirty even after McDonaugh placed himself in a stupid position on the ice.
