And yet premeditated fights occur all the time in hockey, hence we see the fights 4 seconds into games. Do you see anyone being fined for those? The coach? Don't think so. If Clutterbuck wants to skate around and blast skill guys without fighting Shelley, then Lava should know that Shelley can have his way with Wild skill players without any retribution from the opposition.

If a fight happens 4 seconds before a game, they're not trying to get back at someone for something that happened during the game going on. There is no head of the moment. You're just settling the tone. At this point everyone is in control.

Man Buffalo stinks...

They added alot of players and I think they got worse...

Leino is an average player at best, one good postseason.

Look at all those facts!!!

Legit NHL player? You've got to be kidding me. He's a joke to everyone. Players ignore him now. Flashback to 24/7 and Mike Rupp

Good career? You can't be serious.. he's a - player for his career... in 611 games he has 18 goals. Good career? No. Not thats not a good career.

Made a good living? Why yes, yes he did.

Supposedly can't play? You're right. He can't. He gets paid to fight, not play hockey.

- archion113

He's played 611 games, and only has 168 NHL fights. So obviously he get's paid for more then just fighting. I get that you don't like him, or think he's not a good player. When you have played in the NHL for a decade and made Millions to do so, you've had a good career. And he is a legit NHL player. And there isn't any evidence that can be offered to state that he isn't a legit NHL player. So I'm moving on because the facts are clear.

Dude, give it a rest. He has played over 600 NHL games. That is enough to convince any reasonable person he is an NHL player.

And maybe at some point this year, or maybe next year, Leino get's it together and becomes a good player for them.

The big issue is, they expected him to be one of the straws stirring the drink. He's a nice complimentary player.

Yea, I don't see him as a lead dog. They can only hope that at some point, he finds some way to contribute.

He is making too much money. Buffalo overpaid for a guy who had one postseason. He hasnt been productive enough (in his career) to warrant that kind of deal, imo.

I figured he would have been good with Roy and Vanek, but they wanted him to play center...Just hasn't found any chemistry with anyone.

EDIT almost just had a GTG on a deflection. Good stop by Crawford.

They figured he'd be able to produce like he did with Briere and Hartnell, but it hasn't been there, at least not yet.

I liked Ville when he was here, but I'm glad the Flyers didn't end up re-signing him.

Thats actually a nice job by Homer to not overpay for his services. Instead he inked Jagr for less money and only a year contract.

Is that so? A fight occuring 4 seconds into a game has nothing to do with getting back at someone for a previous incident? I'm pretty sure we see those types of things all the time? It's seen in rivalries like Flyers/Rags/Pens all the time that actions from the previous game are handled early. We also see incidents where David Booth fights Mike Richards to pay him back for a hit. That wasn't premeditated? Did Booth get fined? Did Pete Debour? I hear what your saying and I'm not a fan of a goon going out to hurt other players, but when guys like Clutterbuck are running around on guys like Briere, you bet your ass I want to see Shelley crushing guys like Setogucci.

I think when it got north of $3.5-$3.7mm per, Holmgren knew he was out of it.

Oh funny.. cause i swear he's scratched everytime we play a team without an enforcer...

If you have seen Shelley play, you know he's not in the NHL if he doesn't fight.

There is no discussing this. He's an enforcer. Its utterly confusing to me, how someone can claim to know everything about hockey, but be so blind when it comes to an enforcer.

For the examples of Richards vs. Booth, you don't think that sort of fight isn't justified? What about Umburger vs. Campbell? There is a certain honor among players. Richards took Booth out for a number of weeks/months with a hit that could have ended his career. Richards answered to that. Richards owned up.

In the example of Shelley going after Clutterbuck, the Flyers don't seem all that broke up about it.

What he's talking about is that there are rules about putting players out on the ice to start an altercation towards the end of games. And player and Coaches can be fined for doing so. Shelley is going to hit people regardless of what's happening in a game.
