I'm within the majority who would prefer to have Weber but if the Flyers are really after Suter, I have to ask this. If Suter is available at the deadline, wouldn't it make sense to see if they'll take Matt Carle to replace what Suter brings? I know it couldn't possible be a Carle for Suter straight up deal but Nashville is still going to make the playoffs. If Nashville doesn't get a return that somewhat replaces Suter in some shape or form prior to the playoffs, they'd be stupid to trade Suter at the deadline at all.

I wouldn't trade for Suter. I'd wait until he becomes a free agent.

I think if they know pronger is done for good, they could potentially have both with some other minor changes...

And it's really a disgrace.

Lavi agrees.

"That's a disgrace!"

And so do I.

That is the smart and prudent avenue of obtaining his services.

If you wait til he becomes a free agent the Flyers could get caught in a bidding war. By bringing him in now and working on getting him signed might play out to your advantage, and if it doesn't then you end up in a bidding war. However we didn't end up in a bidding war when they traded for Bryzgalov. Yes that contract was long and with a nasty NMC but he only got about a mil more a year, when if it was a bidding war it could have been well over the 6 mill mark.

I'd rather pay $1 million more/season, than give up the assets required to acquire him by the trade deadline.

Well, the point I'm trying to make is, if the Flyers are really targeting Suter in the off seasons, I assume Carle is going to have to walk. Again, if Suter is as important to the Preds as the article implies, Nashville will need a replacement for Suter heading into the deadline but this is only if they choose to move him at the deadline. So why not trade for Suter for Carle?

Seconded. The assets given up would be worth more than $1 M per season.

I would think Nashville would wait until after the season to trade his rights and do so most likely at the draft. Why trade your number 2 defenseman when you are making a run at the cup?

Ville Leino has three goals and seven assists in 34 games for the Sabres this year. Seriously. A minus-9.

And people say Bryz got a bad contract?

- funmaster18

While some of us are surprised by Bryz's performance thus far...I don't think anyone in here is surprised by what Leino has done so far. And many of us warned the Sabres fans they were making a grave mistake signing him to that kind of money based on one good playoff performance and a good half year of hockey.

At least Bryz has a track record of being good.

Bryz was good for multiple seasons in contrast to leino, yes. The only real knock on him was two bad outings against Detroit while he backstopped phoenix.
But leino I never saw a guy get so much out of a 19 goal season,

Yep! In all seriousness, it keeps me able to pay the bills and have self-respect.

As someone who has a mortgage, that's important. I still get to see enough fun stuff at lunch and at night.

Yes, I do. The Flyers got the best Goalie on the market.
- MJL

Im not talking about getting the best goalie on the market... im asking if you think 9 years 51 mil with a full nmc was the best decision for the Flyers.
