None of them need a goalie.

However, if you trade miller to them, you get their starter back...

If Miller did demand a trade it may be hard to move him to the west coast, Kings are set as are the Sharks. The Ducks could be a match but Hiller would have to come back, he makes 4.5 mill unless the Ducks can move him to another team.

Anyone else notice that Garth has never embedded a video from ProHockeyTalk in his blog prior to today. Earlier today I posted my blog with a link to that exact video because the myhockeybuzz video embedding wasn't working.

Later in the same day Garth has that video in his blog...what a hack.

Doesn't matter from a Colorado standpoint as they have 31.8mil in space as of today.

From our standpoint we gain 817k in space for next year.

Would we even get anything substantial back for miller at this point?
Same goes with stafford... And if we trade Roy, we still have a HUGE hole at center...
None of this chatter makes much sense to me

Legit, no way. Ask for a trade on a day off in Chicago on the road? C'mon.

The avatar is hard to follow. It looks like a 'NO' symbol over that retarded guys face in Goonies.

Depends on what you mean by substantial. Miller is still valuable to a team that doesn't have a true #1 goaltender. It's hard to move him from our perspective because he's having a down year, but for a team that thinks he's an upgrade it's perfect because they are "buying low".

Stafford is a tougher sell because unlike Miller, he's only had 1 season where he produced at the level you'd expect with his cap hit. Yet again, for a team that has cap space and a shortage of offense they might think they are getting a steal if they give us a couple bags of pucks and Staff scores 30+ next year.

Miller is much easier to sell than Stafford, that's why Staff should be dealt in a package with others.

Miller will sell jerseys and amp up the hype machine for any city. I wouldnt think it would be a good idea for him to go to Columbus or Phoenix, but cities like L.A., Dallas, St. Louis, Tampa would really benefit from his 'star status'. Plus I think his play will improve in a new locale on a better team.

I would like to see a deal something similar to what Colorado and St Louis did last year.

Speaking of St. Louis, I'd like to swap Derek Roy for Patrick Berglund. Berglund is younger and has more upside, but he's in a major slump and their patience for him is wearing thin, not unlike our situation with Roy.

But in your example... Does miller + whatever (stafford, etc) get us back a #1 center AND a substantial goalie? Like u pointed out, any team "upgrading" to miller prob doesn't have a worthwhile goalie to send back to us

It's hard for me to see how a deal like this works for us

Sabres getting just absolutely crushed by not only the nhlnetwork, but nationally by a front page yahoo.com story is probably the best thing that could happen to us as fans right now. They need a violent shove over the edge of change....
