How long until people realize that Reimer was a flash in the pan, like soooo many goalies in the past have been. He never proved he was a legitimate starter, and he is getting closer every start to proving he is not.

In fairness, two of those goals were not Reimer's fault.
Yeah, the third was a back-breaker, just as the softie Gustavsson allowed vs. NYR.
But we got stiffed on the tying goal, and Lupul shouldn't have taken Turris into our own net. - Leeman4Gilmour
Dude it's the same story for so many games through the season... there's always 1 bad goal.....
It's becoming painfully obvious the Leafs need to make a trade for a goalie if they have any hope this season. |

Sens get the W but I think the leafs played a good tough game, especially before the phaneuf/foligno fight. I thought Toronto`s team game was choking Ottawa out for much of the game, minus some costly lapses of course. Didnt seem to me like the sens were as mentally prepared for this game as they should have been.
Liked the nastiness in some parts too. These games could be quite fun to watch going forward. |

So, the Leafs were up 2 early...
And I'm sure one of the sensitive Leaf mods will ban me. - whipper334
OK, now you see where the Leafs are the weakest. Both goals came off the rush, and once Ottawa figured that out, they didn't get as many chances. Ottawa scored two, by being in the blue paint. I saw no Leafs doing the same. To me, we were outcoached, but what else is new. OK Brian Burke, the ball is in your court. Get out and get us someone to go to the front of the net and fight for space in the blue paint. There is no-one on this roster that's willing to do this. On Reimer, if he had played and got the kinks out, against the Rangers, he may have been better tonight. Pretty hard throwing him in cold, after not playing for almost 3 weeks, in the most important game of the season. |

So really the Leafs won 2-1 tonight. - weirdoh
C'mon now, don't be like that.
I'm as upset as anyone about it, but I fail to see how Halak suddenly makes us win tonight.
We still allow the second goal, the first is a toss-up, and perhaps a different goalie allows one that Reimer saved.
There is no certainty that we win tonight regardless of who's in net. Perhaps if we could tighten up in front of our goalie, let him move and see pucks, it would be different.
How much traffic did Anderson face tonight? Did a Leaf player ever get within 8 feet of him? |

Perhaps if he has looked even remotely like he deserves a start, he would not have waited 3 weeks for one.
Goaltending is not the only problem on the ice... it is the most glaring one though.
I wonder what it would take to get Schneider?

Burke didn't get a Sundin to work with. A consistent PPG centre with size (who used it).
Is that deal for Getzlaf still on the table? Anything it takes. Kadri, Schenn, Franson, Gunnar, picks, whatever. - Leeman4Gilmour
IMO the Leafs have nothing that would get Getzlaf. Kadri and Schenn are wild cards at this point.
Murray isn't going to risk giving up Getlaf for what he hopes will be solid NHL'ers.

Given the choice between a big, gritty top six forward (preferably a centre) and a goalie, I think the centre does more good.
Wait. Scratch that. Firing the coach does more good than anything at this point. |

u cant defend him on the first goal, not like he was run over or anything - pparam
we're we seriously expecting reimer to stand on his head after wilson let him rot on the bench for 2 and a half weeks? there's been no consistency out of the goalies because there's been no consistency with their starts. it's ride the guts out of the hot one until the tank is empty, and let the other one keep the pine warm for the stretch. |

Toronto needs a proven top end starting goaltender. Schneider is probably not the answer. |

totally agree.... and half the time he was "knocked down" it should have been interference. |

Gotta say. Of all the things we complain about, this goaltending problem will be the one that lasts the longest. I'm not even sure who's coming up for free agency. |

We need only look behind the visitors bench tonight to see what a good coach can do for a team.

Then why weren't we not doing the same to Spezza and Karlson? Didn't see anyone on the Leafs doing it. How come Rosehill didn't take on one of Ottawa's roving clown possie? |

That's what happens when you don't have a true number 1, nothin Wilson can do about IMO , I'd do the same thing.
