How does players being sat for a game affect their value? Some of the games very best get sat for a game here and there all the time.

Heck, we see players scratched consistently leading up to the deadline every year so they don't get hurt and can be dealt.

or it says...

"these are the guys who suck on our team so much that we don't want to ice them in a crucial divisional match up"

Kadri being scratched was actually a request from the NHL head office.

It's a safety precaution.

With both Spezza and Kadri serving up neutral zone turnovers - probably on the same play - there would be too many players compacted into a small space. Too big a risk of concussions.

Let's give Bettman credit on this one. He's looking out for the players.

Komi was playing well before his injury. He just got back so give it some time.

I don't know... I really like the Beau signing and secondly Burke hasn't really made many FA signings that impacted the team that much in a negative way over the long term. Please name one player, other than Komi, that has really effected the team over the long term?

Please explain any possible benefit to signing Lebda... and no you can't use the miracle that was the cap dump trade to Nashville. Lebda stunk period.

Beauchemin was a great signing on paper... but he wasn't ever really capable of being a top two guy. Again great trade resulted.

Komisarek was a vastly overpriced signing on paper... and despite people believing he's been somewhat better (meaning not quite as bad more recently) he continues to handle the puck like a hand grenade and I would love to see the statistics that support his improving the penalty kill. He may be a great guy in the room (as Wilson always says) but his contract is an anchor, and when he's on the ice there simply is no transition game. He passes the puck harder than he shoots.

Connolly.. .jury's out but suffice to say he isn't "ripping it up". He seems to be turning into the same lazy player he was in Buffalo. Ever since Bozak went down Connolly has disappeared... any coincidence....???

Hey and that great penalty killer extraordinaire! - Phillipe Dupuis... you have to got to believe that if Tim Brent, Boyce or Crabb deserved that money ahead of Dupuis.

From what I've been told, the Leafs scratching Kadri is not because of a trade. Schenn on the other hand may be a different story.

possible, I think Wilson knows who is sitting, and hasn't changed his mind. The players already know also.

Put Orr on the list. Although in fairness to Burkie, I liked it at the time. And it didn't hurt us at all.

case in point - Lebda was a minus three in a 9-3 win over Atlanta

For what it's worth, he was signed in the 4 range... more indicative of a 3-4 Dman, which he is. In fact, he was the best #3 Dman in the world when Anaheim won the Cup. He was playing over 30 min a night, more than Pronger and Neids that year in the playoffs.

Guy was a warrior, and one of my faves to this day.
