I love players who try to play thru injuries but I'd sooner see guys take time to get healthy, esp this time of year, so they are strong for the playoffs. this team is deep enough to deal with short term injuries. maybe JVR being out with his concussion (praying its mild) will give him time to get over whatever else is ailing him (hip/abdomen/etc)

As would I, if they are obviously laboring and are ineffective. In a case like Richards last year, it affected him, but it didn't render him ineffective. Jagr's legs have really upset his game, and in turn, it seems to have thrown off the line's chemistry

The problem is that that has already been tried. He's had several periods of consecutive starts including one period in December where he started 6 games in a row, including 2 back to back situations. He did not respond.

The only thing I can think of is that you ride Bob till the allstar break.. have a sit down with Bryz and tell him he is your number 1.. have a hockey free, relaxing break with the fam. Dont even think about hockey.. but when you get back, the team is yours.

Agreed. He has had good success against Pittsburgh, though.
- bmeltzer

And he's played well in two games vs. the NYR this season, with 0 wins to show for it.

Also beaten Dallas, NJD, Ottawa, and Toronto (when they were playing well at the beginning of the year).

The thing about JvR is that I thought he was coming around up until that shot to the chin the other night.. he was skating and that line in general looked pretty good.

Saying that Bobrovsky has played against bottom feeders or poor offensive teams isn't a knock on him, it's simple a factual statement. The thing is, even with a lot of shots, teams like Carolina and the Isles aren't running out lines with the ability and depth of a team like Chicago.

I want to see Bobrovsky do what he's done against the Isles, Canes and Habs against the Bruins, Caps and Blackhawks.

- Jsaquella

Yes, I would like to see that as well, (but I don't feel like his easier opponents are the reason he's excelled over Bryz), someone said yesterday that he has it easier playing without pressure & Bryz has it harder because of having all the pressure, I don't buy that at all.

I think, (could be wrong), that the Canes have beaten Boson 3 times this year, so if that's the case, neither Thomas or Rask would want to play them

What about 2 bones...poor kid.

When I was about 12 I put my hand through a window, looked at it and there was a hole the size of a nickel in my wrist.

I can look at just about anything else after that.

My point is that you dont pack in the season and say we will fix things at the draft when there are 3 months left to play...

He has. It hasn't been all bad teams. In his 14 starts, he's had 4 games against teams that have good offense, or at least some really talented offensive players. Two against the Rangers, one each against Pittsburgh and Toronto.

He's had two starts each against Carolina, NYI, Montreal and Winnipeg. The starts against Winnipeg are what really hurt his numbers.

Gotta love it. Not the compound fracture, of course...I don't ever want to see one of my bones.

Thats generally how it works.. my brother split his knee WIDE open when we were middle school age.. he did it all the way down to the bone.. tissue hanging out and all.. I tied a bandana to around it nice and tight.. my mom picked us up (we were playing capture.. the good old days) and drove him to the hospital. I have been fascinated since.

i feel leighton could do as well, if lavvy thought bob was ready there would be no discussion.
- mydoglicks

Don't know how much input Lavy had over the 9 year goalie signing, (Snider?) But the Leighton situation was exposed & speaks for itself

I don't think anyone is saying he has excelled because it's easier opponents.

I'm saying I want to see if he can play as well and have as much success against teams that are not line line teams or know how to get the two points.

Look at his games against the Rangers. He hasn't played poorly, really in either one of them. But he lost both. In one he allowed a weak goal that tied the game. You need a bigger sample size against good teams, because there's not going to be a Carolina or Islanders in the playoffs.

I loved the deal originally, but then found out that there was a full NMC and cried. Even if Bryz was the best goalie in the world for the first 3-4 years.. it is a crippling move.

had it not been for getting hit by a 220 line while working with my grandpop over a spring break.... I would probably have followed in the family footsteps.. Family owned electrical contracting co. Funny how things work out.

If he can come back and play like he did 2 years ago (doubt it).. that would be a hell of an additional defensive minded forward to have in your pocket.

The thing is....

Bryz is going to be the guy come playoff time. Regardless of how he has played to this point, does anyone really believe otherwise?

Sure they think Lavy plays the goalie who gives us the best chance to win. But in the end that will be Bryz.

All this carousel does right now is distract the team and give the media enough ammunition to continue to distract the team.

The ONE thing I DO NOT trust Lavy on is how he handles the goalies. After the (frank)ing joke that was last seasons playoff goalie carousel, I have no faith at all in Lavy's goalie formula.

He was wrong when he gave up on Bob after game two in Buffalo. I don't care how the series turned out, I think Bob in net gets you the same result.

Now it is happening all over again. These head games with the Goalers will come back to haunt them. Because instead of a clear cut #1, he will have two guys who have no idea which end is up. Neither will be where they need to be.

Bob wants to be the starter, but he also knows that the first loss or bad game he is ALSO back on the pine. That is no way to run a team. The goalies need to have clear cut roles. We use the same role criteria with skaters, it should also apply to the goalies.

Ive had enough already, and it is only January.

It would be nice if he can come back and be a faceoff guy. According to Bill on twitter he's been skating for awhile.
