He's played in a grand total of 77 NHL games so far. The fact he's where he is without having spent any time in the AHL is quite frankly amazing in and of itself. Having said that, I think Schneider is better than him. He can take a look at what happens to Schneider and get some clue of what his value might be. If he wants out of Philly quicker than that, well then I wish him all the best. He has potential for sure, but is far, far away from being a proven #1 starter imo.

I agree. That's part of why I'd like to see him play against better teams. Not going to find out what he really could be until he's playing those teams regularly.

I'm simply saying that if Bryzgalov rebounds and is entrenched as the starter, Bobrovsky might follow the example of his countryman Varlamov, rather than the example of Schneider.

Bob is signed until the summer, after next, anyhow not going to be soon

Absolutely defensive zone coverage can prevent soft goals. By blocking shots, taking guys off of pucks, and eliminating the shot all together. As well as neutral zone checking to break up a rush before they even get into your zone. And soft goals allowed are only one of the issues plaguing the Flyers.

easy he just got out of jail for rioting in the streets of NY after that big Giants win

Paralysis by analysis going on. As always soft goals are plaguing the Flyers. Until that changes, it will be more of the same against good teams.

There are no defensive zone coverages that will prevent soft goals. It's up to the goaltender (specifically Bryzgalov) to limit them. Get that problem solved and it's more then half the battle.

Minnesota is 29th in the NHL in goals per game and will be missing their leading scorer, zero reason not to lock this team down tomorrow night.

How do you tie up the stick? You can't do anything really but try and get body position. It's very difficult unless your a house like Chara is. Who's physical size makes him difficult to get around. They can also bump you. Tough strong physical forwards of today's game, just aren't going to be pushed out. And if you do anything such as grab, cross check, etc. your likely going to the box. Yow saw it on the Ottawa goal that Jsaq mentioned. Bourdon has position on Neil, but Neil just bulled his way to the net. Not much that can be done about it.

You can clamp down on a guys stick with your stick, or you can lift a guys stick with your stick. Both are legal and to be effective are dependent on knowing where the puck is and timing it right. The better D men in the league can do this. Of course bumping is going on all the time, but the opposition is not worried about bumping when they're watching a shot or pass being made and they're trying to deflect it. That's where you provide the bump or stick check. Just before the puck arrives. It's a skill/timing thing. Again, the better D around the league know how to do this masterfully.

You have to be extremely lucky to be exactly in the right spot at the right time. And if the opposition has position on you, or has you outnumbered, good luck getting that done.

Sure. And how's that working out for Semyon so far? Not so easy being the #1 is it. Like I said, if Bob plays the Varlamov card on Homer I'll drive to Philly from VanCity just to drive him to the airport.

I agree, just saying, I don't know how happy Bob would being stuck behind Bryzgalov. Like Bryzgalov wasn't jumping for joy being stuck behind Giggy

It's a pleasure being a fan of a team that shows up and wins big games, a team that plays with balls the size of church bells. Love the no excuse, stand up fan base. Playing a team with an all-world QB on the road, 15-1 record, 13 game home winning streak, no problem, dominated the (frank) out of them. Opposed by an 18-0 Patriots team in the Super Bowl a few years ago found a way to win. It's joyous to see your team win, instead of watching them lose constantly and hearing one excuse after another, that gets old after a while.

As far as rioting in the streets of NY, I don't live in NY, so I don't know what went on there. I didn't hear about any Packers fans who happened to be off duty police officers, as well as war veterans getting stomped on though.

If the No. 1 line is flat again on Tuesday, what do you think:

19 28 27
24 10 93
17 48 68
29 14 36

meh...i just want Giroux and Jags split up for a while and then put them back together on a PP to see if you can get them to click.

It's become hard to clear the porch in today's NHL. Refs call too many penalties for roughing or cross-checking on what used to be let go.
- bmeltzer

Given that, I'd like to see more Flyers forwards planted there.

Max Talbot isn't anymore a first line player then Briere and Jagr are 3rd line players. In my opinion the players on that second line are still find their way in the NHL.

should've been clearer, didn't mean that Danny's line was 3rd necessarily or that Schenn's was second. Was just how I was working it out in my head. Also, I did say I didn't really like my idea. Any better lineup while splitting G and Jagr?

I was joking about the rioting thing thought that would have been self explanatory, sorry if I offended anyone.

No offense but yuck, I don't think one of those lines look anything better than decent. If Im messing with the lines at all Im getting Couturier in the top 6. Everyone roses role is pretty well defined to this point.
