I'm not Team Bob or Team Bryz, but Team Flyers. However, in the Bob has only had success against the "bottom feeders" argument - you have to take a look at the flip side of the coin. Bryzgalov has been torched by some of these lowly teams. In fact he got run out of the net the last time he started against the Islanders.

I agree. He commands attention in front of the net. My only thought is his injuries are more than being told. They arent willing to allow him to take a pounding in front of the net, so they use him as a defenseman. Thats just my thoughts but I have been wrong before.

I'm not understanding what you're trying to say. Matt Carle and James van Reimsdyk get Power Play time and Andrej Meszaros doesn't get Power Play time. Carle and Meszaros are defenseman. They are reliable defensively. They play near the blue line in the offensive zone and are used to skating backwards if need be. JvR is a forward who's not defensively responsible and has given up offensive chances for the other team when pressured. Meszaros has a good shot from the blue line but it's not being used right now.

I'd like to see Mez shoot more, but again, he's not as accurate as we'd like either, but he can shoot hard

oh, not at all. i'm actually thankful. i have lots of verbal peeves like that and was disgusted by my lack of self-awareness.

The last time he got more than 3 starts was the beginning of December when he got 6 - all wins. Bobrovsky got the next start and won in Montreal and Bryz was back the next game (the 6-0 drubbing at the hands of the Bruins in which he was pulled). Since then it's been a couple/few games and then Bob gets one or two. Laviolette's habit has been swapping them out after a loss.

Let Bryzgalov come back in after a loss. He says he needs to play, and it can't hurt to try it. It's still relatively early enough to see if it works.

And when he had those 6 starts in a row, including playing two back to back situations, what were his numbers? Yea they won, but if were just going by wins, then there's no problem. As he's only 2 wins out of being in the top 10 in the NHL among Goalies. Bryzgalov has gotten almost twice as many starts as Bobrovsky has gotten. He's gotten more then enough starts to prove himself. Like I said, I have no problem letting him keep starting. But if I was making the decision, Bobrovsky would be getting more starts, and were going to play whoever is playing better.

Well that makes Lava's job all the easier. Any team the Flyers face that is in the top 15 of the league he starts Bryz and any team in the bottom 15 he starts Bob.

Bryz to me looked really bad in the Islanders game you brought up but he also looked bad in our only loss against the Canes this season and we own that team. Bob however looked terrible against the Jets the two times he's started against them this season. The first time however, Bob was pulled and Bryz looked bad backing Bob up. The goaltending has been complicated this season.

Carle in my mind is doing what Timonen is doing. Making plays from the blue line. Not much of a difference between Carle and Timonen in my opinion on the PP.

He was giving up 2 or three, usually, early on. Recently, it's been 3 and 4. We could, theoretically, go deeper and figure out how many were bad goals or teammates deflections or screens, but I have neither the time nor the will.

I was merely stating my case, as were you. Laviolette's gonna do it his way, no matter what we think. We can only hope it works out.
