If you take away Rinne's arms and legs hes an average goalie at best.

What else would they need to do after that?
- JoeRussomanno

Resign Voracek and fill out the rest of the roster. There are some questions that right now can't be answered. Such as how much does the Cap go up, and is there a bonus cushion next year.

As long as we don't hit anymore crippling injuries, I agree, but we certainly ar not in the clear to make it.

Speaking of playoffs, guess who's now dropped to 9th and out of a playoff spot. Your friendly neighbourhood Leafs.. I knew JR's OT goal in 04 was special, just didn't know it would spell 7 going on 8 years of no playoffs for the Laffs.

Just imagine if the Flyers went on a run of futility like that?

- Hextall271

They need to play better to maintain the spot, but I still think, without more injuries, they make the dance.

if getting those other guys means losing Voracek, then I think you part ways with him.

Isnt Voracek a RFA after this year? I think the Flyers would try and keep him around.

I don't know about that. They already could possibly not have Jagr next year.

I think Gleason is the guy if the Flyers are trying to add a defenseman. I wouldnt mind giving up a second and a player for a 28yr old defenseman who I would be looking to resign. If the deal is too expensive then you dont make the trade, that simple from the Flyers side.
- stveshdy

depends on the player. If it's Harry Z or MAB or Gus, I tell them to pound sand. If it's Kalinksi or Testwuide, I jump at it.

I think I would agree with your thought process right now. I would be willing to give them Marshall and a 2nd also.

Looking at the cap, he (Voracek) would likely on cost an additional 500-750k from what he is already making now.. dont see his signing being a hindrance on others.

No, it won't...I saw a dumbass stripping phone wire with his teeth-line was already tied into the house system & he was repalcing a jack and the phone rang...I was laughing my ass off.

Basically, if it looks like the guy has a future here, I don't move him. Marshall's on the bubble

I'd be willing to give up a bit more for Beauchemin, because he's a better all around player than Gleason, but I'm not breaking the bank for him either.

I can't sacrifice Jake yet, even if it means hanging on to Jagr, worse case, Jake has trade value, but I want to see what he can do here for more than one year, (unless we're talking Weber of course)

If they lose Jags and Voracek next year, I hope they don't but if they have a Gleason or Beauchemin with a suter on the Blueline, i think you are looking at a really potent backend with either Bryz or bob and with what we have remaining up front, that it would be a better team than what we have now.

I think the problem with our d-corps isn't about performance so much as its about having the wrong mix or too much of a certain guy. We need someone else besides Mez and Coburn to play physical, possibly a finese defense upgrade over carle, not sure, and that could be Suter and bam that's a better defense.

Then you get these younger guys another year older and more willing to play smarter defensive hockey and this could be a really tough team.

They get that.. WTF just happened look. That look of sheer confusion for about 3 seconds before realizing they just got (frank)ing hit is one that never grows old. My grandpop laughed his balls of when I got hit.

Ilya Bryzgalov is still the Philadelphia Flyers top goaltender.
Bryzgalov has a 3.07 GAA and .890 save percentage this season versus Sergei Bobrovsky's 2.42 GAA and .920 save percentage. However, that's not enough for Flyers coach Peter Laviolette to start leaning on Bobrovsky. "I don’t use numbers, you know that," Laviolette said. "Now Bryz has gotten a majority of the starts. I don’t know if that answers your question or not…Bryz was brought here to be a horse, and he’s received a majority of the games. I don’t see that changing." Bryzgalov is in the first season of a nine-year contract, so it's not that surprising that he has a ton of job security.

Depending on what the Cap does, it very well could be. I think your short on what Voracek will cost.

So you think he will cost north of 3mill in a cap hit? I see him getting a deal comparable to Schenn, but no way exceeding it.

Do you want Jagr back? If I have to choose between Jagr or Voracek, Ill sign Voracek as his future with the Flyers is much higher.

It depends on how he finishes as well as what kind of playoff he has, kind of tough to figure what Jake could sign for 1/2 way through the season, as he could have a solid playoff & that could mean more $
