Yes, I pointed this out last week when evereybody was fired up about Bob playing so well and he did play awesome but it was against the 14th and 15th seeded teams in the East.

That is no disrespect to Bob because he played stellar.

and guess what....that last place carolina team beat the bruins the other day. they're all nhl teams.

I want to see Bobrovsky do as well as he has against Montreal and Carolina against Boston. That's the real test. Great numbers against bad teams are good, but you aren't playing the Canes or Isles in the playoffs. Need to see Bob do well against the better teams in the NHL.
- Jsaquella

So I wonder what the rotation will be this week? Bob vs wild, Isles and Bruins and Bryz vs the Devils? I'd say split the games, but Bob plays well vs the Isles as lavy has indicated. Or you could go Bryz vs Wild, and Devils, Bob vs Isles and Bruins however Bryz is coming off a loss.

At the end of the day.. we are paying two goalies a combined 11mil... I dont care which of them is in the net.. all I care about is who gives us the best chance at wining right now.. and unfortunately that man is Bob..

Bryz better grab that thermos.

- jak521

this is generally my point of view as well. i'll probably change my mind tomorrow though.

I think its do or die time for Bryzgalov. Time to get it done in the next 8-10 games (let him play consecutive) and if he doesnt perform, time to move on to Bob for awhile.

While I dont disagree with you, I think this is the time to get Bryzgalov going. If he cant get it done over the next 8-10 games than its time to seriously consider going with Bob more after the ASB.
- stveshdy

I'd use both this week. They need to get Bryz going, but at the same time, they need to see what Bob can do against a better team.

And completely destroy his confidence? That plan has could have season-long repercussions if it backfires.

Don't force a goalie out there, just play the hot hand. Right now, it's Bob. It could be Bryz by week's end.

I think if they give him a lot of work like 9 out of 10 games he will most likely find his game with the workload as we've seen eralier this year. I don't really think that's how Lavy will handle it though. Bob's played well and won, Bryz hasn't overall and lost his last two, so I can see us riding Bob.

Im not destroying anything. Bryzgalov is use to playing on a consistent basis during his career. He played over 60+ games each of the last two years in Phoenix. You cant keep playing him sparatically. Even when other goalies go into a funk they still give them the opportunity to play.

I am about to throw my Comcast out the damn window. Yesterday while watching the Pens/TB game and the Houston/Ravens game my tv just goes black! This morning it still wasn't working yet my bill will come back with an added 40 bucks for technical support or some other BS.

This back and forth isnt helping his game. I dont remember the last time they allowed Bryzgalov to play 5 consecutive games. Everytime he loses a game, its like lets go back to Bob. How is he ever going to find his game and get back into a routine?

You know, I have been thinking and rethinking the goalie situation. I want to see Bryz turn it around, obviously. But I'm also thinking that Bob should get a start or two against the better teams, because he's been getting mostly bottom feeders.
- Jsaquella

I said this yesterday, give Bob some top teams. This way they can really see who the #1 goalie is, forget about egos. I know Bryz was brought in with a big contract and he was the top goalie to start, but his play hasn't been that. If he can't handle the competition the so be it. This is about what is best for the team.

I'm not saying give up on Bryz an all is lost for him.

Unfortunately, his play hasn't warranted him the option of playing that many games. It's now mid-January and Bryz's grace period is over. It's too late to try to re-establish Bryz as the starter by default. He's going to have to earn it through his play.

If Bob is the best option right now, he gets the start.

A win is a win, whether it be against the 14 or 15th place teams or not. Guess what those bottom feeder teams gave the Flyers fits at times in those games. Bobrovsky's stellar play is what got them the points.

It's not as if the Flyers toyed with those teams and Bob just sat on his arse.

That argument I don't think holds much water.

Thats fine. Then I wouldnt be expecting Bryzgalov too find his game anytime soon. The only time he has been very good this year is when they gave him consistent starts.

Yeah, I feel this way as well, but we can't throw points away either. One thing I have seen is that when given a long stretch he has played well. It's a tough spot for Lavy to be in.

I'd love to see the Flyers go out and get Dominic Moore, if Tampa isn't going to re-sign him.

I think he brings most of what Talbot brings, but can also win a face-off. They'd make a great PK line.

Im not willing to say that their "throwing points away" bc Bryzgalov is in net compared to Bobrovsky. There is no guarantee that Bob wont fall into a funk if he is playing more.

I know you wanted to just augment the position and let bob develop. has he shown you the improvements that make you think that he'll be a solid starter?
