Yep. Like Lindros said on Missanelli's show last month, you get injured and you can come back scared. Granted, 88 was talking about concussions, but it holds true with any injury. The next hit to the same area could be the last you take.

No question about it. When you watch him play (bartulis) he is very timid with the puck in the corners and behind the net when the opposing teams forwards are coming hard to forecheck.

still 50 contracts..

When you make the trade, say Gleason for a pick etc.. add in a Phantoms player perhaps.

Its not always that easy.. especially for a franchise like that. Do they just want to pay a guy that has no hopes of playing in the NHL..

I said about 2 weeks ago that is the move I would look to make. Ruuttu was born to be a Flyer.
- jak521

I don't think the Flyers should be concerned with adding another top-9 forward, unless his main function is to kill penalties/win face-offs. Ruutu doesn't meet those needs.

I wouldn't make it. If Carolina is trying to package Ruuttu and Gleason together, it's to increase the return. Both are fairly young, and approaching Free Agency. The Flyers don't have the Cap flexibility to take both on. Definitely not a move they should make.

This.

I'm not giving up a 2nd to get him, but in a limited role of lower minutes plus PK time, Gill is serviceable. He's a big body out there with some snarl that we do not have right now.

Correct, they lost Nodl which gave them an open slot. But Backlund still counts.

Yeah, i thought we were at 49 not 50 because of Noodle.

Yea.. its the fan in me talking..

I think Ruutu and Gleason would help make this team a real female dog to play against..

They dont have that kind of toughness.

If I have to give up more than a 4th rounder, im not making the deal. I dont want to overpay for a 36 yr old Gill. I would rather take my chances drafting a young defenseman at the draft and hope he can one day help the team.

Apparently it's a common thing. I never knew players did that until I heard it here on Hockeybuzz.

Luckily we have some NHL Insiders on here.

JvR and Suter will be hanging at Warm Springs, Georgia. They will recuperate togther, and heal at the same time, and be traded for one another.

Homer's got some tough decisions to make. Do you not bolster the D and write off this year to some extent or do you give up some picks for a temporary fix/rental player or make a big deal to get help back there if Suter is available?

I say a small deal to bring in a depth rentalor two, take our chances and go hard after UFA or a deal to fix the d permanently in the offseason.

To me it's imperative that we make the playoffs even if only to get some experience for the young players. Cooter, Schenn, Jake et al will benefit immeasurably.
