If the Flyers give up a 2nd rounder for Gill, I will be very disappointed.
- stveshdy

So would I. I'd go no higher than a 3rd, and if that's the cost, I want a 5th or 6th back,

At least Gill won't stand around guarding the blue paint while there's an opponent 3 feet away waiting to deflect the puck.

Not necessarily. Florida gets to choose the year of the 2nd rounder in the Versteeg deal. It could be 2 2nd's next year
- Jsaquella

Thought they have the Kings second rounder for the Richards deal?

i think he's worth a 2nd

As a rental player? Absolutely not. He's 36.

I dont disagree with that. But im not giving up a 2nd rounder for Gill. Your overpaying imo.

It's not about liking him or not. And he's not exactly a great skater. Gill isn't worth a 2nd round pick.

I posted yesterday that Gill might be a solid addition. He makes a slug look fast but he does provide nastiness that is useful to let Bryz see the puck/ not allow tip shots all over the joint.

I think the Flyers are at the max. of 50 contracts, so they have to dump at least one contract in any deal they make.

Agreed. I rooted for him to make the 3rd pair. Last season and this year's preseason showed a decline in his game. A shame.
- Flyskippy

Bartulis looked like he was going to be a solid 3rd pairing player. Then he got that injury I believe to his shoulder and hes never been the same. He just looked timid when he was out on the ice.

I thought Shelley was not preventing the Flyers from doing anything they wanted to do.

Bartulis had some potential, but I don't think he ever had the look of a solid NHL defender.

Ryan Parent is the one who had that look, but had his career derailed by back injuries.

They're not going to get rid of Lilja. And how are they going to trade Shelley?

I agree... if he were to sign a 2 year extension the 2nd wouldnt be as terrible... but at the end of the day he is a UFA in 6 months.. 3rd or bust.. Id potentially wouldnt mind a phantom player who is a 4th line grinder type.. we have a serious surplus of those it seems..

They can easily trade an AHLer for future considerations opening up a Gleason/Gill/Beauchemin for a pick type deal.

Bartulis I though had some potential but its obvious he has declined over the past few years (injuries). I just thought he could of been a good number 6 defenseman.
