he's made some good saves and had a lot go wide on him. i wouldn't say struggle. he's been beaten the way he gets beaten - screens, deflections, and a lot of pressure around the crease. not peripheral 60 foot unscreened bull(frank)ingpoop shots into his stomach like the flyers love to do.

to be fair, the rangers are playing back to back and on the road, but i know what you mean. sometimes teams just have another team's number, even if they're inferior. the habs are buzzing like crazy and playing physical too. just doesn't seem like the rangers came to play tonight. strange that they're ALWAYS ready to play the flyers, eh?
- hammarby31

ah ok. Rangers cant wait for this one to be over

You've got to get in Hanks face early. Gotta be in his crease and have contact with him. He tends to stay back in the crease when this happens. Once that's accomplished go horizontally on him. East/West is a key to beating Lundqvist.

It's a big concern bc his decision shapes the entire offseason. I know a lot of people have mentioned perhaps an amnesty for 1 contract in the new CBA, but the fact remains that Pronger may not have made up his mind by the time that decision is made. It's going to be an interesting offseason, like usual.
- Flyers1218

I don't think Pronger's going to have the choice.

If the reported symptoms are fact, then I'd be surprised if he ever played another game. If accurate, he's not just experiencing post concussion symptoms, he's experiencing serious trauma that could hamper him for a long time.

Timmy can eat skittles and hope to poop rainbows so his quote machine and foil returns, but Pronger supposedly still has memory loss, lack of coordination and sometimes severe nausea. This is two months after his last game.

If he's not driving a car, it'd be a minor medical miracle for him to return in September.

This whole thing really changes what the Flyers 2-3 year plan was coming into the season. What an incredible shame. I guess that's sports though. There's always that risk.

The big fella is done. Wish him well. Thank him for his service, esp. during the cup run which he was brought here to do, and we almost pulled it off with an AHL goalie.

Sounds crazy, but I wonder if a team like phoenix or Nashville would be interested in trading for him. Pronger would immediately retire after the trade.....theres 5 mil in cap taken up that the team doesnt have to pay out.

Just watching a Hal Gill interview now. The only way I would trade for him is if the Habs took Lilja for him.

How would this be compared to Keith Primeau's symptoms Jsaq? Pronger's worse off? I heard that Primeau is still experiencing symptoms from time to time.

His situation sounds so similar to Kieth Primeau. And he is still having issues.

I just think if our guys played better in their own zone we aren't having this desperation mode with our goalie.

If the NHL could invoke that the Kovalchuk deal was cap circumvention, even though it technically followed the rules to my knowledge, I bet they'd step in and wouldn't allow the deal. They'd argue something.

Bob hasn't had nearly the same amount of deflections and unlucky goals that Bryz has faced. Not even close.
- MBFlyerfan

Bob also hasn't faced a lot of offensively gifted teams. I did the starts breakdown earlier. Bob's put up great numbers against some bad teams, or at least teams that are not offensively gifted.

Ottawa(before they got themselves righted), Toronto, Winnipeg, New Jersey, Carolina, Winnipeg, Islanders, Montreal, Rangers, Montreal, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Rangers, Carolina, Islanders.

8 of 14 starts against non playoff teams, 9 if you count Ottawa who were dreadful when they played the Flyers in Bob's first start. Dallas and New Jersey are not exactly offensive juggernauts, and win with defense. That leaves 2 games against the Rangers and one each against the Pens and Leafs.

Now the Pens are not an especially gifted offensive team, but they do have guys like Staal and Malkin who can light the lamp. So 4 out of 14 starts against teams that can be considered good offensive teams.

I'm not criticizing Bobrovsky in this at all, because I'm sure he'd love to be getting the call every night. I'm saying let's see him play against some good competition in the next week or so. They have the Bruins next Sunday. There's a good game to see if Bobrovsky is up to the challenge. Even Minnesota, who has been up and down, presents a decent challenge for the kid.

It sure does. Imagine what Big E could have been? I was just so happy to see that he is able to live a relatively normal life. And he even still has skills, not many current NHLers make that pass he made in the alumni game to Leclair. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time.

And Primes couldn't play in the game because of his concussion issues...all these years later.

They didn't do anything when the Devils traded Malakhov to the Sharks, along with a 1st rounder.

All the team adding him would have to say is, if he can return, we're getting a Helluva a player for minimal investment.

iF you want to really get carried away injury took Bernie out of the 76 playoffs and we couldn't close the deal on third cup in a row, then a few years later lose him to a whacked eye injury ending his career. The injury/freak occurance looms over this franchise like a black cloud in a hurricane.

From my understanding, Primeau's symptoms were never as bad as Pronger's reportedly are, they just have never fully gone away.

Multiple time concussion suffers can see some lingering symptoms for a long time after. That seems to be Primeau's fate.

Pronger's troubles seem to still be at the point where he's dealing with symptomatic overload(layman's term, obviously), which I mean as him not being able to function as a normal person would.

The scary things, to me, are the coordination troubles and the memory loss. If he can't walk from the bedroom to the toilet without banging into a wall, that's bad stuff.

You can even go into Renberg's abdominal troubles and Leclair's back troubles, it goes on and on.
