I don't think the Flyers have the defenseman to offer to get Weber
- MJL

Plus everyone is forgetting that the preds are in the playoff race their not gonna trade 1 of their top two dman it will come after the season

I don't see confidence as an issue in Schenn's play.
- MJL

Not everyone can come in like Cooter has. Schenn played 8 games last year in the NHL. This year he's played 15 games and he's been in and out of the lineup with injury. I see improvement and want to give him time. Roo didn't light the world on fire when he first came up either. Glad we didn't get rid of him.

Having said all this, if we need to flip him to get Weber.. I consider it.

Brett Clark but not be a bad 3rd pairing pick up.

Low salary and not a bad player.

- Buts16

I like the idea.. would like someone else too if we go the Clark route.

I'm thinking they're looking for a replacement for Carle. Someone offensively talented... but able to be physical infront of the net.

I don't think the Flyers have the pieces regardless of when to make the deal.

Is it or isn't it accurate?

My original point got lost in the shuffle of who's right about regressed. My point is that 2 games is to too small a sample to make a meaningful decision about the progress of a guy like Schenn. Especially given the number of games under his belt. I said his play hasn't been as strong the last 2 games. I guess it's not illogical to say that if he's not playing as well then he's regressed. I just don't like the analysis. As a rookie it's very possible that Schenn learned more from last night's game than from the games in which he scored.

They should also be looking at how this Flyers team restructured their team last year by letting go of their two best players as well.
- JoeRussomanno

I was called crazy years ago when i said to trade carter...

Was also called crazy for saying Randy Jones sucked...

Neither do I. It would have to be maybe coburn or a pick that they'd use.. Don't know.

I still bet we get a rental stop gap guy before the TDL and then if Suter isn't signed in the offseason, then we may get his rights in advance.

Tell you what.. you tell me why he isn't overhyped and i'll fill you in.

Weber isn't going anywhere. Suter is a goner and we can sign him in the offseason and most likely we will

Why would Nashville let him hit free agency? Teams don't do that with young talented dmen these days.

It will be someone trading for his rights if they aren't going to resign him. Letting him walk would go against everything Nashville has done over the years with impending UFA's.

unfortunately for Preds and fortunate for just about every team in league both Suter and Weber are going to be available. Preds know the market for Suter and have offered him the money he's looking for, that's straight from Poiles mouth, Suter wont sign. He wants to be The Man, doesn't dislike Weber but doesn't want to be second banana anymore. Too bad. Preds are really in a bind with those two.
- coaster28

They're going to be but the question is when? Suter obviously much sooner then later due to the fact he'll be a UFA this summer but Weber strikes me as much more complicated. What if Suter was dealt for players with serious significance and Weber decides he's willing to stay. Weber is already the center piece to this Nashville team and there is time to change his mind.

Bills point is what got lost. He wasn't making a judgement on Schenn's overall progress on the Season. He was making a judgement on Schenn's last two games compared to recent previous strong games Schenn has played. His analysis is sound.

How is asking you why you think he is overhyped insulting you? You made a blanket statement. I asked why. When I make a statement like that I back it up and explain why, always.

He's a RFA this summer. I don't think he can pick and choose what happens to him at the moment. Sounds like he has to suck it up and play for now.

Oh no kidding.. swore they signed him to like a 5 year deal with a 7m+ cap hit...

Maybe was thinking someone else... Him being an RFA might actually work in favor of other teams. Is he arbitration eligible?

Weber won a 1 year deal worth 8 million I believe last summer. I think the cap hit is 7.5M.

I'm thinking that the teams the Flyers will be trying to trade with are bottom feeders. Teams that expected to do better but aren't.

Tampa, Carolina, Anaheim, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Columbus, Winnipeg and Buffalo.

Buffalo we don't have much of a histroy trading with if i'm not mistaken. Winnipeg would be great to trade with because of the young talent they have at D.

A players Cap hit is the Averaged Annual Value of his deal. On a one year deal, the Salary and Cap hit can't be different from each other. They are the same. His Salary is also 7.5M

Ok i remembered a part of it at least... I'd do almost anything to get him in a Flyers uniform.

If i had to trade Schenn, JvR, 2012 1st, 2013 1st, i would do it.

Is it a smart thing to do? I don't know. Would be a huge trade to be honest, and we'd lose some depth.

Ya know this might sound insane, but if the Habs drop out, what about a guy like Hal Gill? He's a slug, but he could help out with clearing the crease etc. If it's for a 3rd or something and he doesn't have alot left on his contract, how can it hurt. This team misses Pronger and he's most likely never comeing back.

OMG that's a lot. Maybe Schenn and JVR but two firsts is too much. Maybe try to keep the 2012 pick to replace one of these young forwards?

Anything looks like a good idea to upgrade the defense at the moment. I'm sure I'm alone on this but even a guy like Jay Bouwmeester in my opinion would be a decent upgrade over Lilja and Burdon. Not that I want Bouwmeester but he is young and can eat up serious minutes. Plus I think that guy desperately needs a fresh start. In my opinion you can't be a solid player for years with one team and then roll over and die with another. Calgary wasn't tat great a team before he got there. Again, Bouwmeester isn't my first choice. This is me more so knocking our D and looking for something, anything, to revive it.
