Capgeek is not wrong. They know the terms of the CBA.

Okay MJL, don't get your tat in a wringer.

I just said I was sorry for my incorrect post. I agree Cap Geek is not likely to be wrong. I would tend to disagree with you than with Cap Geek

Thanks for setting me straight. This has caught me totally off guard and I apologize for stating he would be a ufa.

Either way though he will probably be traded as I am sure his aspirations are to be a starter in the nhl.

The Flyers are going to do what is best for the team. They aren't going to trade Bobrovsky just because he wants to be a starter in the NHL.
- MJL

Just like you said they will not trade Leino, they will not trade Carter, they will not trade Richards

Somehow I take what you authorize with a grain of salt

I think they could get a really great return for Bob this offseason. Reality tells us that Bryz is the guy, that contract is what it is. Regardless of what happens this season, I pretty much believe that Bryz will be the guy going forward.

I would love to see him get three or four starts in a row where he knows that every bad deflection or coverage breakdown doesn't automatically mean he is on the bench the next game.

Anytime you want to discuss the rules of the CBA, let me know. I've read it extensively. And invested a boatload of time learning how it works with regards to the Salary Cap, Free Agency, Waivers, etc. How about you?

I never said they wouldn't trade Leino. And guess what, they didn't trade Leino. What does that have to do with the topic of conversation?

And to clarify because it is written in plain English. I did not say they would not trade Bobrovsky. I discussed a reason why they would or wouldn't trade Bobrovsky.

i disagree that he's making a lot of the same mistakes. sometimes? sure. a lot? not imho. he's staying on his feet longer, and making himself bigger - the penalty shot save against grabner is a prime example. he's widened his butterfly a bit which seems contrary to staying up and being bigger, but it's working. his puck handling is also better - and certainly more confident. he's improved a lot.

bryz has to find a way to start making these deflection saves or lava's eventually going to stop playing him, as bob's been the better goalie from camp straight through to this point, and the team needs to win. if bob gives them a better chance at this point - and in the playoffs - so be it.

- hammarby31

I agree that he's a little better. But I don't think he's ready to take the number one job yet. He is improving, but as we saw in the Winter Classic, he's not really playing a solid game every time he plays. He did play well against the Islanders, and pretty well against the Pens. I'll give him that.

But like it our not, I think our season rests with getting Byrz to play like he can. And I just don't see that happening unless we start to give him the vast majority of the starts. Making him "earn" every start he gets is not going to work with Bryz. I wish it would, and if that's what Laviolette chooses to do, then I hope I'm wrong. But I don't think that is the best way to get the most out of Bryz. His history would seem to support that.

I agree completely. Right now I see in his on ice demeanor that every goal he lets up has him thinking he is going to be on the bench next game. And the fact that most are just flukey goals makes it that much worse in his head. I know it would eat at me.

In order to make an informed opinion when it comes to discussing such things as the Salary Cap and other issues that have to do with the CBA.

I agree with the part about riding him. Not sure about the due diligence bit. Given his mental makeup, in order to feel confident and comfortable out there he needs to feel like he has the trust and confidence of his coaches and teammates. Playing him in a rotation (or in only 4 games since Christmas) is not going to build that feeling.

I get that people want him to "earn" his starts with better play. But that's not how it works with some goalies. Sometimes, you have to show the trust and confidence in order to get the caliber of play that "earns" it. I think Bryz is that kind of goalie. If we platoon him, we're not going to like the results. He has to feel like he's the man before he'll play like it. Telling him he has to earn each start he gets, or that if he has a bad game Bob gets the next game, is not going to make him play better. I think it will have the opposite effect.

I love Laviolette as a coach, but if he has a weakness I think it's handling goalies. I think he did a poor job of that in last year's playoffs, and I'm not wild about how he's handled Bryz and Bob this year so far. I hope for all our sakes he figures out soon how to get Bryz playing at a high level. Personally, I think that is best accomplished by playing the hell out of him and letting both him and the team work through it.

- BringBack25

I also agree w/ the part about bryz fighting the puck as well. often I hear how he wasn't the problem, but if he's not given a solid block of playing time, he won't be the solution.

he's been very good or great in pretty much every game except for the jets games, and the bad goal against the rangers. bryz has more experience - regular and post season - and has a history of playing well over the course of a whole season - it's obviously why the flyers signed him, but he's not getting it done right now. theoretically he gives the flyers a better chance to win in the playoffs, but in the end, theory doesn't mean squat. i hope he can turn it around in the 2nd half, and the only way that happens is if lava just plays the poop out of him, results be damned.
