Sabres fans laughed blissfully when everyone warned them about all that money being thrown around to guys who average or just above average at best. Ehrhoff is another disaster move.

Said it then, said it now. Spending ignorantly was the root cause of the Leafs and Rangers toiling in mediocrity for so long. The Sabres are now being dragged down that path, and the whole collapse is playing out even worse than most everyone predicted.

I saw this Sabres mess coming, though I would have guessed probably not until next season. However, im not complaining that it's happened right away.

I think PG just (frank)ed up, yet again. A long list in just half a season. He has also played the firing card, with an assistant and head coach being canned. He made a bad trade bringing in Kaberle, he hired a new coach in a cloud of controversy.

Now, he made bad move with the Camm trade. It seems like PG still thinks this team can turn it around this season, hence the major piece coming back was an older player to help now and the Kaberle move.

PG paniced and traded an asset for the present, instead of admitting it's time to shut it down and build for the future. As a non Hab fan, I love that he seems hell bent on avoiding a lottery pick, but you have to wonder what is going on there.

In retrospect, it makes me appreciate the job Burke has done after seeing moves for Phaneuf, Lupul, Gardner, Aulie, Colborne, two 1st rounders etc. All for guys like Stajan, Hagman, Beauchemin, Versteeg, Kaberle etc. Cammalleri is arguable better than any player we gave up. They should, and could, have gotten a pretty nice package of picks and prospects if a better GM was running that team.

I hate JVR so I'm biased soft as butter, but Schenn has been getting 16 minutes a night and despite having his best season statistically he's struggling, I'm worried about him.

I think you hit the nail on the head about the Goat, he seems overwhelmed as GM.

I do agree Schenn is struggling out there. I would trade him for the right player, and I agree with you that the player isn't JVR. Problem with trading Schenn, to me, is that the style he plays only shows his faults. Its a no glory role. But more importantly, I think with Schenn, he seems the kind of player where his best hockey will come in his mid to late 20's. But thats a far hope, and a long wait.

Well, at least the PK hasn't given up a goal in like five or six games. I guess that practice with the ropes worked. I wasn't disappointed with how the Leafs played last night, more impressed with the Rangers, they look like a real contender.

I agree with everyone that we could use a big power forward in the top 6. Burke has said this as well and is obviously working on it. We could also use Army back in a big way if he can ever get healthy again. We have the sandpaper on this roster but it's never been all healthy at the same time. Brown and Army in the lineup at the same time would really help. Brown looked really good on the 4th line last night.

What's truly tantalizing with this lineup is the grabbo/koolaid man combo has been showing clear signs of playing like it did last year, IF only that unit and the Kessel/Lupul line starts clicking at the same time we got something going.
