absolutely but the Suter hype will have Homer looking elsewhere I'm sure, I don't think our D is that bad, I would like someone like Weber more so as what we lack is a Pronger like 10-15 goals rocket back there, but I don't think Suter over Carle changes our dynamic that much
- puckhead17

One area where Suter would be a very significant upgrade over Carle is on the PP. And While Carle is playing extended minutes with Pronger being absent, he's really not a 25 minute a game defenseman, more like 20 a game. While Suter is a legitimate 25 a game player.

We must be looking at two different teams. I see a team that is sorely lacking meanness on the blueline.
- FlyerGuy

They could use a physical defenseman. But that is one player out of 20. And every team would need a defenseman if they lost a Pronger.

I think anyone who watches Flyers games realizes why JVR isn't playing in the top 6.

No, again, now trade Mez?

I think the grass is always greener with some of our D men

- puckhead17

I'm not suggesting it. Just saying it's one possibility. If they sign Suter they'd have to get the money from somewhere.

Injured to the point of being invisible most nights....what aboutblast season? The season before? Your in love with the potential and fail to see his been a big disappointment
- Philly1980

If JVR is traded and he becomes a 30-35 scorer, the female doging will be epic. IMO there is a better chance JVR becomes a consistent goal scoring power forward, then L. Schenn becoming a lock down first pairing dman.

I disagree that JVR has been a big disappointment.

And maybe thats why the deal hasnt happened. The Flyers may be asking for more in return if Toronto is interested in JvR.

It's really quite simple. If the Flyers don't feel that Schenn is going to be a top pairing defenseman, then they don't make the deal. I wouldn't make the deal if that is the case. Unless there's something else very good to go along with it.

Injuries happen. Its hard to find a player who is playing 100% at this time of the season.

Let's wait until after the season and see the specifics of his injury.

Oh yeah just like last year when we traded Richards and carter......this team will be fine without jvr as well I'm not a fan of players, I'm a fan of the team and what we need now is defense not a powder forward playing 10 minutes a night

the claim for Schenn is because our D is too soft, Mez, Coburn & Bourdon are our bangers bak there

He was the Flyers best player in the Bruins series last year by a wide margin. That's a glimpse at what he can be once he matures. I'm not ready to trade that for a player who might become something. Not interested.

To be honest jvr wasn't really playing that great before he got hurt If your hurt that bad maybe you shouldn't play. To me he plays like a sissy lol he's a big dude and he doest use that to his advantage

I agree and if you read what I posted I said that since Suter isn't a physical player, and if they keep both Carle and sign Suter, and trade Meszaros, it would take away from the physical aspect of the defense. So hence I said I'd rather upgrade on Carle with Suter.

JVr was on a 30 goal 30 assist pace before getting injured. He was on his way to having a breakouot year.

That is a good point, but, again, Nashville plays all 5 in the zone deep, who knows, Carle may be able to play 25 minutes a game in that system.

In a tight defensive system a 20 minute guy can probably play more minutes like 25.
We play more go go go & 25 minute D men in this system can be way different on your legs

Every player has bumps and bruises no doubt, but I don't think a huge % of players play through injuries that require surgery. I give JVR credit for trying to gut it out. I would prefer he get the surgery now, and come back later in the season, but I'm thinking the time frame wouldn't allow him to return this year.

Schenn has shown that same potential of what he can become once he matures. How hard is it to understand that both players are in the same boat? JVR is also a player that "might become something".
