I'm sure I'm in the minority here, I Love Suter, but why he's earmarked for $7 or $6.5 million a year?
he does play a lot of minutes, but is around 40 points a year & under 10 goals, (good, solid, but not spectacular)

I don't get why a shade under Weber who can command more, but a lot of guys saying Carle isn't worth 5 but Suter is worth 7, there numbers aren't that different

- puckhead17

Suter is more consistent than Carle, and a better all around player. He'd be an upgrade on Carle. It's not by a giant margin, but if I can have Suter for $6mm and Carle for $5mm, I go with Suter.

Flyers trade JVR for the Leafs # 6 dman yet?

(frank)ing comical some of these stupid rumors.

Leafs fighting for their playoff lives and L. Schenn is getting less minutes then guys like Aulie, Franson, and Komisarek. LAUGHABLE.

My favorite path is trading for a cheap, solid replacement defenseman to stabilize what we have now, then try really hard to land Suter in the summer. If you get a guy like Gleason or Beauchemin, who will resign to a cap friendly hit, you could keep him and let Carle walk and go get Suter as a UFA.

I just don't want to see a bad trade made, regardless of who it brings in.

- Jsaquella

Im in favor of that move. Sign Suter and trade for Gleason (try to sign).

You all aren't getting Weber. Sorry.

But you get the pleasure of seeing Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi as well tonight. They have looked very good. Killer on the PP as well. Hope you all are disciplined since for some miracle, the Preds are #2 PP in the league

very happy to see Kimmo and Hartnell back home. They will be cheered again.

- kypredsfan

I don't see Weber going anywhere, at least not until the summer, and even then it's a long shot.

Different systems and different talent. Nashville dont have half the scorers the Flyers have. Your going to be able to get more points if your team scores more.
- stveshdy

Right, In Nashville he'll command more, but in Philly he gets that much more the rest of the defense that's already in place?

again, I do think he's worth getting, but I don't think he towers over Carle that much $/talent wise

It wouldn't have changed anything. I like Rinaldo and what he brings, but he's not that effective of a player.

Well yeah, offer sheet is the ONLY way. Or we ship his ass to the Islanders if he wants to keep playing hardball.

Suter on the open market will be the prize of the UFA class.

22 year old defenseman never have rough spots in their development. They never have poor periods of play, and if they do. That means that he's a #6 defenseman. I guess that means that JVR is a 3rd line Winger who plays 10 minutes a game. So what's the problem with making that trade then. Apply the same logic your using to JVR.

Now let's talk laughable.

If he and the Preds are far apart, and can't hammer something out, I could see Poile trying to turn him into Herschel Walker and get a massive return for him.

But I do think Poile wants to keep him for the rest of his career. Who wouldn't?

BTW, most of us Preds fans would rather keep Suter and bring in a high profile scorer than keep Weber. We love Shea, but he could bring us a boatload of talent. And Suter is actually better defensively, just doesn't have the cannon or the big hits.

Suter is a better all around defenseman than Carle, handsdown. I rather have Suter out on the ice than Carle when playing against other teams top lines.

And that's the reason but I don't think we're that bad top 4 wise with Carle, and 1 better bottom guy

You don't have to like him. Just saying that people keep trashing the possibility because they seem to think Luke Schenn isn't a good player. He is, and all indications are that the return would be Schenn, plus another player.

My preference is to keep JvR, too. But I'm not going to be unobjective over the possible return.

Nor do I. But Suter is better than Carle. And if the difference is $1mm in cap hit, I lean towards Suter.

I just don't think he's a $2 million a year more better

I think we sell Carle short on this site

Schenn is a young defenseman who will continue to grow. I dont think the Flyers would be getting back a bad hockey player. Also, we would have to wait and see what else would be in the deal as well.

If Carle is going to command $5-5.5 and Suter at $6.5

I rather go with Suter for the extra million.
