If E.Kane was traded why would he go to a team that might be moved. If Kane wants out of the Peg.why not to Vancouver his hometown.Just a thought - mudcop
Firstly I don't think Kane wants out. But if he did want to go to Vancouver, I'm sure the Canucks would be thrilled but, short of shopping Schneider the other way, would probably not be able to deal what the Peg would be looking in return for their top liner. |

He has 22 points.
Tell me again about his ability to dominate games on the scoreboard.
Or are there 144 guys in the NHL with the ability to dominate a game on the scoreboard?
Don't try to over-rate a player, son. I'm a Leafs fan. That's what we do.

Im not a huge fan of JVR... but he had 6 goals in a stretch of 5 games last year in the playoffs for philly... he has shown he can score some big goals. I think he still has a the chance to be a helluva player in the league. |

On JVR for Schenn...
zero mention of Schenn - stoned
Wrong Dreger said if Flyers offered JVR for Schenn it would be done in a second.
As posted earlier as well...
Don't be surprised if Burke meets with Schenn today. If deal doesn't go down soon, I expect Burke will tell Luke its not happening. |

oh, really, Ek? so, say the Flyers hired a unilingual French coach, you'd have no problem with this? and you'd expect the fans not to care? no offense, but you Americans live in a bubble. so, for that matter, do Canadians west of Kingston. language issues are always overblown. until it's your language that's in discussion. it's a fact of life in Quebec. - DoubleDown
In all fairness though, Cunneyworth should be given a chance to learn the language as he is obviously willing to do so.
If he gets run out of town because of the language thing, then don't you think that would prevent others from coming to the organization?
Do you think Cunneyworth would have even worked in MTL if he knew that he would only advance so far because of his language limitations?
Obviously the reaction was news to him because put simply I'm sure he would have learned the language previously if he knew this kind of outrage would occur so obviously it was NOT made clear enough to him.
I'm not knocking the heritage in having a french speaking coach, but it is also a question of being fair to Cunneyworth. |

1. Denis Potvin is closer to the worst colour man in hockey, not the best
2. JVR had a couple of great periods, but was not ahead of everybody on both teams
3. Myers is nowhere close to the 2nd-best D man in the league |

Doesn't mean I'd trade the farm for him.
And, once again, JVR isn't a centre. |

My main issue with Gauthier's season so far is how he has not been public enough in getting people to grow up and get past the fact that Cunneyworth doesn't speak French. I get the French media's desire to have a French guy to interview and I also get the fact that French Canadian Habs fans want a French coach. I love the cultural aspect of the franchise. I just think sometimes it needs to be kept in a proper perspective and Gauthier is the one guy who could have made that more clear.

Thats not really a fair comparison..... does the canadiens have any player that only understands french? The coach needs to communicate with the players.. forget the (frank)ing media and fanbase... get a french translator for that. But how lame would it be to have a english translator in the dressing room to relay the coaches message. Common man... I hate Ek as much as the next person but that is just a dumb comparison. It would be different if the whole montreal canadiens team only spoke french and you have an english speaking coach. But the whole team speaks english and I don't see the big deal with it. Don't limit yourself to just bi-lingual coaches. |

i agree with you 100%. but this is a poorly run organization. there is no plan in place. Gauthier flies by the seat of his pants. |

From the moment he gave the interview, a trade was inevitable.
I knew it (check my posts from yesterday). EE knew it. Everyone knew it.

Phanuef! - glove_was_stuck
Ask yourself this...
If your peers vote you as most overrated, then haven't they, in essence, just proven themselves wrong?
Also...
Kessel picked last in the all-star game, when his skills did not warrant that at all (especially in a speed, non-contact game!
Then... Ron Wilson as the coach most players don't want to play for.
Now Phaneuf #1 overrated and Komisarek #10.
You don't think perhaps that what this really is about is just Leafs/Burke hate, and some jealousy over the attention Leafs players get. I am sure most players would hate the Toronto microscope... but I bet deep down inside they would love to feel like they are actual heroes in the city they live in. Very few NHL places offer that to the extent Toronto does (Montreal being the only one) |

Truth. The leafs actually look pretty solid on the wings, what we need are large centres, or game changing centres. |

You consider schenn the farm? My god man... ill concede to your point about wanting a centerman.. but you can't possibly believe that JVR for schenn is completely lopsided... especially for a team with a boatload of fringe defenseman that can fill that 5-7 spot nicely. |

He never said that Myers was 2nd best D-Man in the league. He simply said that Weber and Myers would be his 1/2 to build around.

I totally agree he should be given the chance. The only issue is that he didn't JUST land in MTL. He was an assistant with the Habs and lived in the city. Before that he lived in Ottawa where there is a huge francophone population. Had he wanted to learn French, he had the opportunity on multiple occasions. Clearly he is just someone with no interest in trying to learn the language and is only now bowing to the pressure. |
