Oh wow.

Watching l'antichambre last night they were talking about how they probably could have gotten more from a team like Nashville (which makes no sense). I think the only reason people hate this trade is because they overvalue Cammy's value, but getting a cheaper player who produces as much as Cammy, a decent 3rd line potenial prospect and a 2nd round pick from a team that doesn't have a bright future is a pretty good deal.

I disagree, after the year he had I think they wanted to see if he could have a bounce back year.
Not to mention the 2 years he will be in the minors will cost them what they were paying per year previously.
SO here are the scenarios:
1- pay him 10M over the next 2 years and have a 7M cap hit/yr
2- but him out for 7M over 4 years and still have 3.5, 4.5, 1.6, 1.6 cap hit
3- pay him 10M and have no cap hit (he cost you 7.5 this year for nothing)

This is a business and paying an extra 3 for the extra cap space from option 2 is a no brainer.
