You don't like the trade? - hscesq
I like the trade. I agree that they probably could have got more at the deadline, but also that he probably had to go now for being a douche. |

also...all cup contenders have 6 M$ in available cap space, you know. - stinger67
Good point also. In the end, we were trading from a position of weakness and got a decent return. |

No, it means that trading to free up cap space is not a reason to make a trade. Sure the Habs save about $2.7M in the trade... for what? What are they gonna use that on? What is that $2.7M savings gonna buy the Habs to make them better? Who is the great hope of a player that will come in and save the day for $2.7M? What player even wants to come to Montreal, that would be actually worth $2.7M (rather than overpay a player to that salary to get them here)?
Nothing. No one.
So I do not see the cap savings as being a benefit to this trade.
That is my point.
In fact, the Habs should be taking on 1-2 year bad contracts to get extra picks for them, when trading off their expiring contracts.
As for Price and PK, the Habs already have enough flex to manage their new contracts with a little tweaking and / or expiring contracts. This trade really changes nothing in that regard. - JDJ
Think it's time for me to get high.
Have a nice day! |
