Agreed.
But if the Habs do not ship out guys with expiring contracts like Moen, Gill, Campoli, etc... for picks, then I am not sure this trade even matters, as the Habs will be rolling in the same poop again next year, just delaying the inevitable another year.
The only thing the Cammy trade really gives the Habs is the ability to buy out Gomez, and have the buyout + Bourque's salary about equal to Cammy's total cap hit, and hence, have no real impact to the cap from a status quo perspective..
Not the best way to use/manage cap, but a way to make it palatable to manage a Gomez buy out.
If there is something to cheer about it might just be that. - JDJ

I don't see what all the fuzz is about pulling him out? what else should he have done? let him go back but tell Cunneyworth to not play him? If I have a deal in place that big, I'm not taking the risk of him getting injured... |

thing is he was always giving these pointers and advice to his teammates that they really could have used in the third. |

Only reason Gomez isn't already gone is that they are hoping for a clause in the new CBA that will allow them to buy-out penalty free. If he manages to pick it up in the next couple of months, then they might try to get him gone through re-entry, but even that would cost too much against the cap imo. |

No, The Goat still thinks Gomez can be a productive member of the team. |

Yeah, just like Cammalleri speaking out didn't hurry up the trading process with Feaster. |
