Marinara is just upset because the self-centered Italian guy is gone from the team. Basically, PG admitted that if he could, he would trade Marinara for Calgary's second line journalist who makes only half as many meataballs. |

What I am curious to know is what was holding up the deal, and what did the deal look like before the poop storm yesterday. - Guimania
I would guess that the Feaster offer was there waiting for PG to take it. After the poop storm he took it. |

I just feel he's doing fine for his 1st season...I'd try to deal Gill, Campoli and if lucky Kaberle.... |

I don't think any team won this trade. I think both teams sorta got parts / things they wanted.
How the players actually play will decide if there is really a winner.
Not sure how any of that is wrong.
Feel free to believe whatever you want. - JDJ
I am not asking for your approval on believing what I want.
My point is, Cammi was underachieving big time in MTL, and did so last year as well. This team isn't making the playoffs. You get rid of him, you get space, you get a 2nd round pick, AND a guy who scores the same amount as Cammi. Then you get a prospect who could turn into an NHL player. Regardless of what Cammi does, this is a good deal for the Habs. |

A quick update on the Mike Cammalleri/Rene Bourque swap from Thursday night. The move opens up all kinds of cap space for Montreal, as the Canadiens can now add a cap hit of approximately $8.2 million at the deadline without requiring any long-term injury relief. The Flames stayed cap compliant by putting several players on long-term injured reserve, but once their roster returns to full health, they'll need to trim more than $2.5 million in cap hits.

I hate to ask this... and I'm not trolling when I ask the inevitable...
But would Gauthier be making space for one Vinny Lecavalier? it would seem that the Habs have some young assets, particularly on the blue line that might make a deal possible. |

is Ryan White dead? Who cares?
is Andrei Markov dead? This would improve the club. Less distractions, more $
is Scott Gomez dead? If anyone can make this happen, I'm winning 649.

It as also been repeated by other "informed journalist.. not blogers" that GM's did received word that CAmmy was availlable months ago.
But I guess you prefer to disregard that info and keep on saying that he did this traded blinded by a big bag of popcorn - WaterBoy
If you love this trade, good for you.
I am indifferent on it. Not because I love Cammy (which I don't), not because I am not sold on Bourque (which I am not).
The 2nd is nice.
The added size is nice.
Trading an inconsistent player for another is a wash, in terms of production (not sure we get more player points out Bourque, nor lose any given the way Cammy has played).
I think cap room is sorta irrelevant at this point - Habs are not going to find anyone to spend it on, and they can already afford Price / PK with some tweaking. So I don't really consider that part of the "win scenario" of the deal.
I don't think it is a bad trade. I don't think it is a good trade.
That being said, the Flames are taking the biggest risk, but also have the biggest potential reward.
People who say one side got robbed or clearly one team won the trade really are not looking at it objectively.
