I thought last night Giroux's two game was the best he has had in a while.. and that Jagr was really holding the other two back (because Hartnell looked pretty good as well)... Sit Jagr until he is 100%. Thats the benefit of having Matt Read play on your 4th line.
- jak521

In my opinion Giroux wasn't very good at all last night. And hasn't been for the last few games. But that's going to happen. He's not going to play at a high level offensively for all 82 games. No one does. I'm more concerned with the defensive side of the puck.

Right on. That's telling guys if you get injured and your play is hampered the organization has no problem trading you. Even if your playing through it. You don't disrupt this core unless it's the megadeal. Aka Shea weber

Burke raped Holmgren last year, shipping the Flyers a crippled mouthpiece chewer for a first and third. It better not happen again.

MAB can play. If the flyers stay patient with him he is a solid 5/6 guy for years

JVR with no shots or hits last night in just over 10 minutes of icetime.
- Buts16

i said last night he was invisible. again. i don't want him moved. but for (frank)'s sake, either step up and contribute SOMETHING or go get surgery or whatever you need to get healthy.

No thanks on Subban, he will never reach his potential IMO. He comes across as a punk. Would never trade JVR for Subban. That would be a horrible trade.
- bird_dog

Id trade a 2nd and a prospect for him. I think Subban can be better but maybe Subban can be had for cheap with how the Habs season is going.

Is anyone considering the fact if JVR is traded soon after Carter and Richards were, how it would potentially deter guys from signing here? Trading 3 cornerstone players who had long term deals will make players think twice about it.

There is no need to trade JVR, if the price is reasonable go out and get Gleason, or Gill, if not stand pat, and go after Suter in the summer.

I made this same point on page one.

apparently no one is concerned.

I'd imagine if Luce and Holmgren only think of Schenn topping out as a 2nd pair guy, they wouldn't make the deal. If those guys really think he can be a big number 1 guy, then it's more plausible that they'd do it. It really comes down to what the parties involved feel the value of each player really is.
- eayost

Schenn could be a top pair guy, I think he's more likely to be a very good second pair guy/adequate first pair guy.

I think a lot of folks are underestimating Schenn. That said, JvR has a higher ceiling, IMO. Any time you trade a 22 year old for another 22 year old, it's a risk.

The bigger problem is not only are they not clicking offensively, but the line is suffering repeated defensvie breakdown. Last night it was JAgr. It's frequently been Giroux in the last few weeks.
- MJL

he did it again last night on the isles first goal. he ended up chasing the isle behind the net, whom he had no chance of catching. the line has been not been good defensively. bad coverage in their own end, and turn overs at the other.

I'm concerned, but given how the long term deals have worked out, is that a bad thing?

Hopefully Gustafsson plays tomorrow night. Laviolette shouldn't be fooled by the result last night. It took Bob standing on his head to get 2 points against the 15 seed in the East. LoLja's first period made me ill.

Agreed. Personally, I don't want them to trade JvR for anybody, unless it's a deal that lands a proven stud defenseman.

But the discussion is about the rumor, and there's no harm in discussing it. Beats the goalie bullpoop.

No way he comes cheap. He's still very young and one of the most promising players on their team. No way you get him for a 2nd and prospect.
