agreed, but they arguably didn't have a guy that was top 30 in the league at that time either

i'd say at the very least both the flyers (when pronger is healthy) and the predators have two legitimate (high end) number ones

i think we established earlier in the week though that i'm a bit higher on suter than you are

- FlyerMike18

I love Suter, make no mistake about it. He's the guy I really want. All I said was that I don't believe he's as good defensively as Timonen is.

No. Giving up on JvR is trading him for David Rundblad and a 2nd rounder.

Getting a package headed by Luke Schenn is saying we got a really good return for a guy we still think is a damned good player.

Is Schenn that much better than Rundblad?

both have equal potential

Honestly, from that list, I think Suter is most comparable to Timonen. At least in style of play. Jay-bo (can't believe I'm typing this) would be next imo.

Yes. Schenn is a LOT better than Rundblad. Especially in his own end. Rundblad is a lot less likely to reach his potential than Schenn.

They are two completely different dmen, but yes at the moment he is.

Rundblad is still learning, but has the much higher ceiling of the two imo.

Well, Ottawa is 9-2-1 since the trade, and Turris has 8 points in 11 games.

Rundblad was sent to the AHL today.

different development tracks. pietrangelo took a while and STL stayed patient, reaped the rewards.

I have no idea what that means

I think they'll both be good to be honest. You can't really compare the two, one's a tough stay at home dmen, and the other is a puck moving offensinve minded guy.

He put up decent numbers in two games in Phoenix, but he was sent down today.

Too early to call him a bust. He has been traded twice now, though, and hasn't really played much in North America.

Not really. Karlsson had 26 points in 60 NHL games in 2009-10. Last year he had 45 in 75. This year Karlsson's really broken out, but he's produced almost from day one in the NHL

sent him back to juniors for as long as he was eligible. others in his class were playing 2 yrs earlier and some were questioning whether he might be a bust.

Well, people questioned JvR being a bust. People can be dumb.

Rundblad is now two years older than Pietrangelo when he became a full time NHLer.

However, as soon as Pietrangelo became a regular NHLer he was successful and regarded as a top young defenseman.

Hockeys a funny sport, Rundblad's stats in the SEL destroy that of Karlsson's.

In his last season, Rundblad scored 50 points in 55 games, almost as many points as karlsson had games in the SEL as it took Karlsson longer to get a first team shot with his team in sweden, so David was actually ahead of the curve.

Some players mature differently, i still think Rundblad will come around.

Rundblad was a monster in the SEL. He could be a good player in time. IDK, I just see him getting moved so much and I worry that the talent won't translate to the smaller ice.
