Stuff like that is why I'm not closed to a trade. We have seen him have good games during the times he's been hurt, and if he's going to be invisible, then shut him down and fix the damned problem so he's ready for the postseason.
- Jsaquella

If they can shut him down and have him healthy for the playoffs you'd think it would be a no-brainer, I'm guessing that isn't the case or would have been done already.

I want the JVR from last spring, he was almost unstoppable.

Dear God.. sounds like he was invisible. If he's hurt I say sit him, but it's probably an injury that can't get worse/ needs surgery in the offseason. It's gotta be that. I can't beleive that he completely forgot how he played in the playoffs last year.
- Hextall271

there is no question in my mind he is injured and his play is suffering from it.

So do we all. He doesn't have to dominate like that every night, but he also can't be invisible like he was last evening.

I thought JVR did have a shot late in the game.

Wasn't it off a rush and he deflected it in on goal?

it's gotta be tough being that handsome, he's like the Bieber of the NHL.
- Buts16

haha wow That is one comparison I did not see coming.

He hasn't played the Flyers enough. That little bastard always seems to get a goal in the cross state rivalry games.
- Jsaquella

haha As happy as this makes me it still isn't enough. haha The pens don't pay him 2 million to score against one team.

Yeah, I've really been noticing this as of late. Not a lot of hitting going on from our D. Very un-Flyers like.

And on the topic of Luke Schenn, I don't think he's the answer in the slightest. I don't think his name even gets brought up if his brother isn't on this team.

- hereticpride

His name is being brung up because there is a lot of talk about it out there. And it isn't because his Brother is on the team. Luke Schenn is a promising young defenseman.

By in large the Flyers have played 7 straight sub par periods, they did get 4 points and Bob was excellent. These type of efforts won't be near good enough to beat the big boys, or even teams on the fringe of the playoff race.

Hopefully they come out and play a strong team game in Nashville Saturday night, they will need to be much better to get 2 points.

I'm loving the 4th line of the Z-Man, Couturier, and Read. They have earned more ice time.

I agree with Bill.. If there is a trade that goes down.. it will more than likely be a blockbuster type deal..

I wouldnt mind something along the lines of this..

Phi: JvR, MA Bourdon, 2nd
Tor: Schenn, Colborne

I dont think we can give away JvR and not have some sort of offense returning. Dont know that would work, but I cant see a straight up JvR for Schenn deal going down.

i would be very pleased if the flyers could add luke schenn, he adds an element that we are sorely missing. if the price is vanRiemsdyk, i would require more than just schenn coming back. i would want either grabovski, gunnarson or a 1st round pick. i'd rather not trade jvr, but this team has a much better track record acquiring forwards than dmen.

Before I finished reading your post, that was exactly what I was thinking.. I wanna see those guys really bring it.

Read has been amazing.. doesnt matter what line he is on, that line produces..

Read is a one smart hockey player.

Yes he's an older rookie but he's a rookie and he's for the most part making the right plays and decisions. I can't imagine how good he'll be in a year or two.

Fantastic signing by the Flyers.

Love Read. He plays in all situations and does an excellent job. When I saw him putting up nearly a point a game in the AHL with below average talent, I had a feeling the Flyers had something in this kid.

With the way Jagr has looked the last three games, I would put Rinaldo in the lineup and put Read back with Giroux, and Hartnell. Jagr is clearly hindered by the injury.

Yea, a little too cute for my liking.. I think having Jags a step or two behind hurts a ton.. I would like to see what a guy like Voracek could do on that line..

At the end of the day, we have won, what, 4out of the last 5, with out this line rolling.. thats a good thing. Ultimately though, they need to get moving again.

- jak521

The bigger problem is not only are they not clicking offensively, but the line is suffering repeated defensvie breakdown. Last night it was JAgr. It's frequently been Giroux in the last few weeks.

Im having trouble trading JvR

I honestly think he will be the best player in any deal... I know how painful an impinged hip can be.. how limiting it can be. To deal with that as well as the abdominal tear, and still be putting up points and goals at a career best pace.. I honestly think he has top line power winger (35+ goal 40 assists) potential.

EDIT: And I know a proposed a very similar (more on the flyers part) trade... I just hate having to think about it.

I thought last night Giroux's two game was the best he has had in a while.. and that Jagr was really holding the other two back (because Hartnell looked pretty good as well)... Sit Jagr until he is 100%. Thats the benefit of having Matt Read play on your 4th line.

He's playing injured right now. The Flyers know this, they aren't going to trade him while his stock is low. I have no doubts that he will be a consistent 30 goal scorer in this league. Bigger guys develop somewhat slower. Would be a big mistake to trade him.

What a glorious day. Won my bet with a co worker who's an Isles fan.. somehow he thought they were due..tsk tsk..

Then, with the Habs GM going bonkers and trading Cammy, the 2 Habs fans in the office are ready to jump off a bridge saying this season will be one of the lowest points of the franchise's history... It's hilarious to witness.
