He's an RFA. There is no money accounted for Voracek in available Cap space for the Flyers for the 12/13 Season. Resigning Voracek to a deal with a 3M cap hit takes 3M away from the available Cap space for 12/13, not 500K. - MJL
I didnt base it off of available cap space for 12/13.. I cant get cap geek here at work so I did it off of this years..
I took the UFA's for next year and added up their total on this years cap.
Carle, Lappy, Jagr, etc. along with waiving Shelley, and LTIRing (assuming he never plays again) Pronger gave us roughly 14 mil before resigning or signing anybody, or accounting for JVR's raise.
What I didnt do was count the RFA's. I didnt add them to that list.. Its Harry Z and Voracek. Harry Z might see a little bump, but nothing substantial. Voracek on the other hand will likely get a few year deal in the 3 mil range (my opinion). He is already making 2.5 mil.. the difference on the cap is 500k. |

I'm sure they agreed on that. MC was gone the moment his words hit Twitter. |

If we picked up Shea Weber, I would hate to be Scott Hartnell or Wayne Simmonds on the Power Play. Weber would kill off our own guys one by one. |

$65M for that team this season. How unBuffalolike. - rockychocbill
I still think Buffalo targets the wrong guys every year. Going out and getting Leino was terrible... i think they really dropped the ball in Buffalo. Its like they don't watch these players play, they just look at stats and sign accordingly. |

They don't screen the goalie enough as it is, and we don't even shoot from the point. |

They uprooted a good chunk of their team, their best player (Roy) is not playing up to his usual standards and their defense is in disarray.
Teams with that much turnover need time to develop chemistry.
They have plenty of talent to be a playoff team next season. |

Using cap geek, I think this is about what you're approximating:
FORWARDS
Daniel Briere ($6.500m)
James Van Riemsdyk ($4.250m)
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m)
Claude Giroux ($3.750m)
Brayden Schenn ($3.110m)
Maxime Talbot ($1.750m)
Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m)
Sean Couturier ($1.375m)
Jakub Voracek ($3.000m)
Matt Read ($0.900m)
Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m)
Jaromir Jagr ($3.300m)
DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m)
Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Andreas Lilja ($0.737m)
Erik Gustafsson ($0.900m)
GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.666m)
Sergei Bobrovsky ($1.750m)
which would leave us with $5,983,056; or $9,538,056 with the bonus cushion. That's the cap number with five defensemen, twelve forwards, and Scrabble and MAB unsigned RFAs. |

Do they have the patience to wait till next year? I think thats one of the worst run organizations in the league... right there with NYI and FLA. |

As bad as NYI? They'd have to spend quite a bit more time on the golf course for me to agree with that. |

Hmmm, I guess we all have our favorite teams to hate. I think the Sabres have actually been a decent model (like Nashville) for a smaller market team over the years. I was shocked to hear how much their payroll was this season. Like Brad said they do have some decent talent on that team. It just seems like they are always having one or two of their key guys out of the lineup and they're not able to score enough. Plus the D is in disarray this season as Brad also mentioned. I really like Ennis. Have since he played in the Dub. |

I stand corrected. I'm used to seeing larger rats than that given where I work. |
