There's no reason to do something like that. Sometimes teams just dont match up.

As far as trades in general, I feel like people forget that you're never really obligated to trade any of your players. Therefore, you should never be 'forced' into 'accepting' your player's value on someone else's terms.

If another team negotiates for Tedenby based on "he's a bust prospect playing 10 minute son the 3rd line", or for Parise based on "He's a free agent who will walk at the end of the year anyway".....then the Devils should hang up the phone.

You set the value for your players, otherwise you don't trade them.

Gaborik too. He's up there in goals but tied with Parenteau, Vrbata, Henrique and Fleischmann in points. There's no way he deserves to be there more than guys like Sharp, Kopitar, Eriksson, Backstrom, Elias, Versteeg, etc. especially when his team already has 2 reps.

Agred Elias and Moulson should be there over Gaborik.

Parise's stats are not as overwhelming as in the past, but I think his defensive performance is pretty close to Selke worthy. He makes so many critical plays while backchecking....and they are very noticeable. He deserves an all-star spot.

Kovalchuk is now at a point per game as Todd said. An argument could be made for his selection as well, though maybe his inconsistency was a factor.

If he's a healthy scratch on a lesser team than I would not want to part with anything more than a 4th round pick.

Interesting looking at the stats Henrique is +9. Kovalchuk is -10 and Parise is -2. Kid is great in all areas. Deserving of being an all star. Although I've never been a huge fan of the game, lacks intensity.
