Calgary is also a crap team. Why would any prospect give up a chance to play for a top team, needing a scorer, in the greatest city ever, in the worlds most famous arena. - aecliptic
Is Kredier from Boston orginally? |

Not to further this speculation but, the Bruins are the champs and he's from New England. |

Well I counter your argument by saying JVR was a die hard Rangers fan growing up and he didn't spurn the Flyers to play for the Rangers. That is about all i got to argue |

He can't just pick his club though. What if he pisses off the Rangers, and they respond by saying, fine, well take the 2nd rounder for your compensation, and you reenter the draft. I am sure there are alot of less desireable locations that he wouldn't like to play in.
And if the Bruins really do want him, which I am not necessarily sure that they would given how stacked they are, the Rangers could extract a decent price from them.
Personally, with the Rangers prospect base, I am not opposed to playing hardball with the kid if he tries to force a trade to Boston. Sure, it may hurt in the shortterm, but you would send a message to the rest of the people in your organization not to screw with you. |

Oh I'm quite certain it's well known among agents and scouts that Sather is not to be (frank)ed with. |

At this point, I think with our current defense and the defensive prospects on the way, Sauer becomes very expendable. I know everyone on here loves him, and believe me I think hes a very solid, reliable defensive defenseman, but if the time comes and hes involved in a trade, I wouldnt be to mad. I think Anaheim would bite on a AA/Sauer/1st or prospect type trade. They have two solid offensive D men in Fowler and Visnovsky, they could definitely use a stay at home, in your face type D man like Sauer. And with Erixon and McIlrath on the way, we simply cant keep everyone. We already have Staal DZ MCD Girardi and a very capable bottom two pair rotating around Bickel Eminger and Stralman (I think Woywitka gets the boot once everyones healthy). I think if Ana came calling and was ok with that above deal propsed, we have to pull the trigger |

So what do you think Sather would do? Do you think he would let Kreider force a trade to Boston, with some crappy Erixon type package coming back in return, or do you think he would make the kid pay for crossing him -- even if he only got back one second rounder (for compensation) rather than the two second rounders he may be able to get in a deal with Boston?
Maybe Boston would make them a worthwhile offer, but if not, I don't see Sather bowing to Chris Kreider's wishes. |

O yea, I would love to do an AA/Sauer/pick or prospect deal. The only problem I see is Ryan will get traded by the deadline I think if he is moved at all. I don't see Sauer being healthy by then. Therefore Sauer has no trade value this year IMO |

i think if he got wind that he doesn't want to sign to would try to trade before the rest of the league found out about it. That's Slats... |

I'm fine with that ... make sense to me. Although a club like Anaheim would probably want some assurances that he would sign with them. Makes you realize why the Habs got virtually nothing for McDonagh -- in fact they got more than nothing. |

Yea yo I would rather just have lost McDonagh outright, then to have to lose him and take on that 7+ mill cap hit of Gomez. Double slap to the face. |

Yea the way I read the whole reason with him going back for his junior year was he didn't think he was a dominating player yet. He wants to be able to come in and contribute right away. This year he his putting up great numbers and looks dominate on the ice. He didn't always look like that his first two years. Now if he doesn't sign this offseason and wants to go back for a senior year then yea I will start to worry. |

i know, lebrun is reliable too.
to answer pete's question:
1.girardi
2. staal (concussion concerns me)
3. DZ
4. mcdonagh
5. sauer - bonzo11
Girardi is the most reliable
Del Zotto has the most upside offensively
Staal is better than Girardi offensively but Grairdi has it on him defensively
McDonagh has the potential to be the most well rounded out of the group
Sauer, when healthy, would be the player to bait other teams for scoring help
If the Rangers are looking to upgrade the top six, it would likely be on the left side. Gaborik and Callahan are the Rangers top two right wings, as we all know, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Richards and Stepan, when Richards is right, is completely ok too.
On the left side though, there is a problem. They have used two natural centers(Dubinsky and Anisimov) pretty much all season long on that side. Both are having medicore to subpar seasons.
Bobby Ryan is a left wing...just saying. Until the deadline passes, and Dubinsky and Anisimov don't step their games up, this will not go away.

I am sure that the Rangers decision to push JT Miller to the Plymouth Whalers, who play in a small little arena in a Detroit, Michigan suburb, rather than having him play at North Dakota, had at least something do with the fact they didn't feel like competing with college life anymore. Although one could argue that after a year in North Dakota, who wouldn't want to get to NYC as soon as possible. |

Jeez, you would make a great politician. You wrote really articulately without ever answering the damn question.
