Don't get me wrong, Bourque is not the guy who will make the habs a much better team or a cup (playoffs?) contender.

But (frank), at least they got rid of one of the overpaid, small, underachieving forwards they had in the top 6 and replaced him with a big forward who scores 25+ goals per season AND a 2nd round pick.

Isn't that exactly what we were asking for in the first place?

Here's what I don't like about the commentary.

MTL gets ripped for making the Kaberle trade, which I still don't like, because they take on a bad contract and get nothing with it. In my mind Mtl is on the opposite side of a similar trade, they get less talent in Bourque, but they get cap space and a good pick. Seems to me it's more than they should have gotten considering the situation. A lot of the negativity comes from wanting to rip the habs or Gauthier, I don't think someone can fairly say this is a horrible deal.

And it doesn't matter what Cammi does in CGY, the point is he wasn't doing it in Mtl outside of the playoffs.

The important thing to remember is Gauthier still needs to go.

Yes.

Yesterday, I was saying I much I wish the habs would go the sens way and trade players for picks and whatnot. Well, the Cammalleri trade reminds me a lot of the Heatley trade.

Yeah, those 2 Bruins goals were complete bullpoop goals. I bet Julien is not particularly happy with this win.

That first goal was a fluke, and the second one...well, it happens I guess. And Thomas does what he always does. But they seemed to be playing with more urgency and less softness.

Why don't you get a classic jersey? I dunno, like, Steve Shutt? Robinson? Naslund?

Pierre Larouche was my favorite Hab, so that wouldn't work. Hmm, I'm starting to think that I am drawn to a certain type of player.

You hit the nail(no pun intended) on the head.
If he picks up where he left off with Iggy it really does not matter because like you said he was not doing it here.(with exception of his first season)
If he continues to struggle well Goat man looks like he won this trade.

I think Goat won this trade regardless. By a lot? Depends on the pick, and whether Holland becomes anything of even minor significance. But to get roughly the same amount of goals, with more size, around the same age, with a second round pick AND significant cap space? I don't love Goat, but let's give credit where it's due.

I agree totally.
I guess you actually have to follow the habs to see that this trade does help the habs in more ways then one rather then sitting back and using stats to conclude that the Flames got the more talented player.
