not worth as much unless they are high draft picks, which you'd have to give up MORE of, then people will just complain about not having them anymore.
- eshake

As long as they turn the picks into players that can stay with the team for a long time, then I think it's worth it trading them. I just hate seeing them traded for rental players.

I honestly believe that Bryzgalov is trying to do to much. He is trying to be the savior for this team and putting too much pressure on himself to be "the guy". He needs to just play hockey and relax. Have fun and confidence when your number is called that night.
- stveshdy

I get that feeling too. Sometimes I think he is overly aggressive in the net that he gets himself out of position. I think regardless of how he plays out the rest of this year, he will come in next season much better.

That's a good point, but I still don't remember BOB "stealing" any games. He played awesome against Pit in the last game we faced them, but other than that I wouldn't say he's been leaps and bounds better than Bryz.

The other thing is they could be showcasing BOB as potential trade bait at the deadline. Not sure what the market is for him, but with all the trade speculation, I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor.

- funmaster18

I want both guys to play well. It seems like a handful of people love one, and hate the other. But why? They both play for the same team. There doesn't need to be a controversy.

To respond to your point, if Bobrovsky hasn't stolen any games for the Flyers, Bryzgalov certainly hasn't. I have faith that Bryzgaolov will improve markedly, but up to this point, Bobrovsky has been the most consistent.

I haven't been around much lately, but I was wondering, what's the deal with BOB and BRYZ's goalie pads? Are they both sporting the brown pads now?

not on his own, no. this was more to the "WHY WOULD WE EVER TRADE JvR" point....more specifically the JvR for Schenn talks
- eshake

I understand defenseman come at a premium to forwards, but I just don't like the trade of Jvr or even Jake Voracek for Schenn.

Jvr and Voracek I believe will be first line wingers.
I don't see Schenn as a #1-2 guy. I could be way off base, just giving my thoughts here.

I agree. Im not saying his numbers wont get better but you can understand the frustration with some fans over his numbers. He signed a huge deal and people are questioning it, which may be unfair cause its still early.
- stveshdy

He wouldn't be the first or the current player to have signed a huge deal and not come through on it.

I'm with you. It's not a competition, it's a limited partnership. They are both there to help the team.

I'm not in anyway suggesting Bryz has been better than BOB, I just think BOB hasn't been so much better that it makes sense to say "gotta put him in tonight for the best chance to get 2 points" which some have been saying. IMO, it's a toss up between the two as far as who gives the team a better chance to win right now. Hopefully they both get better and elevate each other's game.

If he can help take us to the Finals again, I wouldn't mind.

I agree with you completely. I honestly dont think he can play any worse than what we have seen to this point.

No way he makes it past recall waivers. Other teams would have to be stupid.

And hey, if this is his worst, it's still better than what we got in the playoffs last year, isn't it?

No one expected him to be Marty, but they expected him to be better than he has been.
- funmaster18

A lot of years left on his contract. I wouldn't want to be one of those fans who spoke too soon.

I figure they both took inspiration from Bernie's Alumni game pads. I like the look.

Pretty much. We went to three goalies last year in the playoffs and none could make a basic save.

I don't care about year 7, I am talking about how he is playing right now. It's ok to criticize players for their play at the present time. I hate the whole "see how it goes" or "it's still early" responses because I am not saying he won't be better, I am saying as of right now you would have expected him to be better.

And yet one of them still comes out smelling like a Rose and the newest addition wasn't apart of that group last season.

And I believe he'll get there, but that as Beezer suggested, it is a process guys go through when they've signed a big deal.

I like it because to me it shows unity. It's like, hey, we are the russian goalies and we don't care who is in net. That's my take on it and probably not what they are thinking, but that would be pretty sweet.

Comments ranged from he's not ready to be the full time starter to he cost us the game because of that 2nd goal to Rupp etc, etc.
- hockeylover

That goal to Rupp was completely unacceptable.

Is it okay? I don't think it is when you're ignoring how the team in front of him is playing. I don't feel Bob has been leaps and bounds better then Bryz by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah that's stupid. My whole point is it's completely fair and justifiable to criticize his play up to this point, but makes no sense at all to jump to the conclusion that he's a terrible goalie and we made a bad deal.
