Pieces moved, huh? Who do you see as most likely to move? |

Pieces moved? For sure. I still don't think a "blow up" is imminent - vetts
Agree that a full blown blow up isnt imminent. But bigger pieces than one would think should be moved. Look at Buffalo & Pitt. My God those teams should be dialing 911 if they havent already. Especially Pitt. They've had the luxury of not pushing Crosby to play but boy, if they fall out of the playoffs........
I think Bourque & Joker would be critical fits for them or Buffalo or even LA. Return can be pretty sweet for Flames. I think Kipper needs to move as well. I am truly amazed we won the last 2 games with our injury depleted lineup. Really not expecting that to continue but who knows. We are getting to the fun part of the season. Wonder if Iggy wants to go or stay? He may want to wait until mid Feb just to see where we are at before deciding. |

With Smith and Brodie stepping up I think our D looks pretty good at the moment.
Any forward other than Iggy and GlenX can be traded IMO. |

Kipper wouldn't give us a good return to make it worth our while IMO. The goalie market is pretty weak and Kipper makes a lot of money. |

I still think bourque for raymond is a great fit for both teams. But with sutter in LA, I think that's the most likely |

Kipper will get you more than you think. Tampa, Chicago, Columbus & maybe even Florida or Washington could be very interested if it feels right come deadline. Clombus would be a draft deal where Kippers NTC expires, the others Im sure he'll waive in a heartbeat knowing he could be in Columbus. His $$$ remaining on his final 2 years make him very attractive, even to teams like Phoenix & NYI in June. I think a 1st, a cap/salary balancing roster player & a prospect can be attained. Same as Iggy, if the return is junk then dont trade these guys, but there will be desperate GMs as we approach the deadline. |

Only thing that worries me about Raymond was that looked like a serious injury that could hobble him in future years. I guess I would want to weigh the returns from other clubs versus a Raymond return, before doing it but I certainly would look at that deal. |

It was a California trip last season that basically ended our run, if you remember. If they can get on a roll, perhaps the Flames still have a shot... - vetts
Was that the November trip?
I kid. Nice to have a Flames blog back...
Question for ya: IF the Flames trade Iginla. To which team would he go, that would make them instant cup favourites? You can't say Boston, as they are already there. |

I wouldnt bother with Rolly unless you have to balance cap. Rather have Downie & a 1st or Conolly & a 2nd. |

If bourque is gone, Downie. we only need one guy that racks up pissy penalties.
Otherwise I think Connolly is a better fit on the team going forward.....still need that centre though.
Jokinen is doing good, but isn't whats needed to make the team better. need someone that can win face-offs on both sides of the rink...and pass.
far fetched scenario, we some how scam and get wheeler and burmistov from the peg for the likes of jokinen, bourque or kipper....ok i'm just tired and typing now...end day now

Connolly and a first would be bare minimum return for Kipper and then trade Iginla to the Flyers for Bobrovsky and Voracek. Bob is going to be a great goalie and I think he is ready for #1 status.
That being said and I do believe the returns to be fair I still would hesitant to trade either of my two favourite flames.
