I'd like to congratulate Tim Wallace of the NY Islanders for scoring his 1st career #NHL goal against the #Flyers tomorrow night

And Dipietro for probably re-breaking his funny bone

I think they should see how Gusty does and sit tight for a bit. No need to panic.

Another injury to one the top 4 right now and all bets are off.

agreed. but they don't have that much time to get a good read on him and whether they need to make a move. like you said, if a top 4 goes down, then holmger needs to make a move...unfortunately from a position of weakness.

not really familiar with his game, so i can't say. i'd be surprised to see toronto move such a highly valued young player. then again, it's burke. anything's possible.

Agreed. Lets see what little Gustafsson can do. The Flyers could use help on the blueline but im not willing to trade any current roster player for it. I would be willing to trade one pick and a player from the Phantoms.

Oh man. I don't think even the Flyers' ability to give people their first goals will work for Timmy. He's already played against the Flyers. His first Pens callup.

I didn't really get the chance to listen carefully to the Hartnell interview. But he did say that Jagr gets on him in practice if he thinks he's not working hard enough and it really affects him. He wants to do everything he can to keep playing with those two.

He also said he'd kind of wondered what Jagr would be like, having done what he's done and been the player he's been. But when he got here he's just always happy and funny and a great guy to be around. (I think we can kind of see that from the glimpses we've had.)

Just as an update on the Flyers Cap situation. The moves made today of sending down Walker and recalling Gustafsson, has raised the Flyers Cap number of what they can afford . As the roster stands now, the Flyers can take on a full season Cap hit of $4,529,256

Schenn has a chance to be a very, very good defenseman. What makes him one dimensional?
- MJL

dont see him as any kind of offensive threat, whether it is on the rush, from the point or playmaking. that would be ok if the cost wasnt going to be very hi, which it likely would.

i certainly see him as a solid def dman who will be an effective decision-maker/ crease clearer, but i wouldn't trade jvr or schenn for that kind of dman.

It's far too early to say he's a bust. He's struggled, but he's still a talented kid. The cost would like be prohibitive for me.
- Jsaquella

is it really certain to think, after the last 3 years, that JvR has any better chance to become a top 3 forward as Luke Schenn has to be a top pairing Dman that can consistently skate 20+ quality minutes?

both players have all the tools.

the FLyers need D right now for their cup run, and moving forward. i'd take Schenn for JvR

So he has no potential whatsoever in the future offensively? It seems as though his offensive numbers have progressed each Season. Do the pro scouts concur with your analysis. How about his physical game, or his ability to make a first pass and move the puck?

they are both the same age? why not "now"....? maybe later then?

in theory both could get better. RIGHT NOW, where Schenn is at, he'd help the Flyers more than having JvR RIGHT NOW

saying I'm not ready to give up on JVR yet, we have Mez, Coburn & Carle all under 30, there could be other options, I love Luke Schenn, (said it B4), but I'm not moving JVR now.

He's playing hurt all this season, I want to see what he can do healthy & at this state of maturity.

also, not ready to pay a #5 D man $3.6 million a year, as he would be arguably #5 here right now

I'm not ready to give up on JVR either. I'd move him in the right deal though. We have Carle for this year only as of right now.

i don't necessarily think that trading JvR for any asset you may feel makes your team immediately (and potentially, in the long run) better is "giving up on him".

I would never see leadership ability from JvR...i see tons of leadership potential in Luke Schenn.

I do agree on the leadership aspect, & yes, I'd move JVR for a more fully rounded proven commodity like Bobby Ryan, or maybe Ryan Suter, but otherwise, no, I hold on to him at this stage

well, if Pronger wasn't hurt, you'd be paying your #5 4million....

Schenn is totally 2nd line material on the Flyers right now, with comparable and complimentary skills with all of our top 4.

he'd be the perfect pair w/ Carle...
