I would take on another Schenn for the same reason why I would take on 2 Staals. For the ironic Brotherly Love Theme.

I agree on getting Luke Schenn (if available), he's bursting with potential, & is in, at least the top 4 on a lot of teams

In my opinion we need Physical. I'd be willing to take Cody Franson if the Leafs are willing to take our crap in return, like Lilja. Not to say Franson or Lilja are both crap but we're sour on Lilja right now and I've heard nothing but negative things from Leaf land about Franson since Training Camp. The kid couldn't crack the roster for a whole.
- Schenn2shine

Franson only partially fills the needs, true.

He's got the skill, really hasn't put it all together yet...I'd prefer him to Lilja or even Bourdon, just for the shot.
- Jsaquella

Over Lilja yes, not so sure about replacing Bourdon, he's a physical element who's game is improving, in the role he plays, (plus, he's got a mean slow, floating wrister

I like Subban too but I doubt he's on the block.
- Schenn2shine

I don't know about Subban, he has issues, it seems off the ice as well as on it

Bourdon is definitely more physical...but Franson could be a good PP point guy.

I don't like the JvR for Schenn scenario, myself.

I'd love to land Subban, but he's not the end all be all. Loads of skill, lot of growing up to do.

I missed the JVR for Schenn thing, I love Luke, but no, I'm not willing to give up on JVR, (unless we're getting a Ryan or similar)

I don't like his game, he's an awesome point man on the PP, but his side crap, slew footing, etc. isn't worth a risk

I would like to see JvR play through at least one year of his new contact. Power Forwards are a different beast from other types of forwards. Lupul signs a new deal, he's traded. Carter signs a new deal and he's traded. We all expected more of JvR this year but we haven't even allowed this season o completely play out. With the top line not scoring, I think I would give Giroux and JvR another chance together. I've had plenty of past success.

I don't want to move JvR unless the return is a bona fide stud defenseman-yes I realize it'd take more than JvR

I agree!, the balanced lines are giving some of our best forwards, which we need/want production from, less minutes.

we really do have a lot of depth

Schenn's not that one dimensional. He can skate a bit has a decent shot and he's physical. He's still developing. I'd take him in a heartbeat, for the right price.

As crazy as it sounds, I'm happy that Harry Z and Rinaldo are alternating in the line up. I'm even more happy to see Read on the 4th line with Couturier. We have a trustworthy line up from top to bottom. If I had it my way, the Flyers would have already used Voracek like Ville Leino already. Hartnell and Briere in my opinion have had too much success to keep them apart for too much longer. Keep in mind that I like what we have going right now but everyone hasn't been firing on all cylinders at one time this season.

I think he has more of an offensive upside than he's shown, he had an end to end rushing goal, ala Orr, last year against Boston, Maybe the year before).

You would think. Maybe it's just the media here in VanCity overreacting a bit.

There was a good little bit of audio yesterday when Tony Gallagher was on a Boston radio station and they just "happened" to have Shawn Thornton outside the studio and called him in to "speak" with Tony.

video clip of that is in the boston thread today. it's (frank)ing embarrassing.

I think Luke Schenn would be the perfect fit next to Matt Carle.

Schenn has a chance to be a very, very good defenseman. What makes him one dimensional?
