So he has no potential whatsoever in the future offensively? It seems as though his offensive numbers have progressed each Season. Do the pro scouts concur with your analysis. How about his physical game, or his ability to make a first pass and move the puck?
- MJL

actually, i base that on what bill posted a while back about dmen who dont show offensive ability in juniors or their first couple of yrs. what he posted was pretty convincing and while indeed, there are exceptions, the likely price for schenn doesn't have me in a gambling mood. we need a dman that brings more of an all around game if the price is b schenn or jvr.

Only if Carle were signed first, would h be an option, I see him getting a Coburn type deal this year, if not, then it's because they are gunning for someone else
- puckhead17

In my opinion, I don't see Carle signing for what Coburn did. Maybe I'll be wrong about that, but he can get a better deal then that by hitting free agency.

I'm extremely hesitant to trade any of the current players on the team. I really like this team. I'd prefer that they start using the draft to continue to build this team, and supplement with free agency. As I've always said, I'm in favor of any trade that makes the team better. What that is right now I don't know. It's like what pornography is. You know it when you see it.
- MJL

I am in favor of a move if it makes them better. However outside Luke Schenn all the popular names aren't signed beyond this year so that puts me off to make the move, unless they can be signed shortly after being acquired,

Also I'd try to figure out a price in mind and it if's above that I simply walk away. As much as I want them to make a move for the betterment of the team, I'd also like to me to have some prospect depth in the system.

As long as Nashville is in the playoff hunt it makes zero sense for them to move either Suter or Weber even if they are blown away by an offer.

Also they'd probably get better offers after the season when every team can bid without the cap coming into question.

- ob18

If I'm Poile & I have to move both, I'm blowing up the team from top to bottom, as losing both top D men will require a complete deck shuffle

I think your underestimating the value of a top pair physical shut down defender that L Schenn has the potential to become. He is not a one dimensional player. I don't know if I'd be willing to trade B Schenn or JVR for him, as it's not a guarantee that L Schenn gets there.

Why blow the team up, it's not out of the question that he can't keep both or at least 1.

I thought so to at one time, but Coburn is physically, what Carle is on the offensive side, neither are spectacular, but very above average & serviceable in regards to what element each brings to your top 4

We got a nineteen-year-old who is out there killing important penalties out there. a nine-teen-year-old. Has there been a more successful rookie in our lineup since Lindros?

I think he would have at least signed one by now, it doesn't seem to be that foreign in what each would want, & I don't see him coughing up another $7 million each after Rinne signed

all the forwards are in $4 million (top line) range, it may behoove him to try a change in philosophy & go for a game breaker or top line center

The signed Bryzgalov for 9 years. I think the Flyers realize they aren't a Cup team this year. They know they're a team of the future. I hope they don't go into win now mode at the deadline.
- MJL

that makes sense, but when they made the big trades this summer there seemed to be asymmetry given they had signed bryz and had pronger and kimmo on d...iow, i agree w/ your logic, but w/ homer we can never tell.

A puck mover who is a point producer on the back end like Carle is, is going to be worth more on the open market, then a defensive defenseman such as Coburn is. Carle in my opinion is the better overall player over Coburn.

We don't know what's going on if they really like it there maybe they take a little less to stay to make things work & try and get a cup winner in Nashville.

But to make the move now and limit the trade partners to me doesn't make too much sense.

Because of the offense yes, but I don't know that they are millions apart in regards to what each bring to the table, Coburn still has some upside, (if he could hit the net)

Millions, no. But Carle can get around 5 or so in Free Agency.

Right, it's too early, but the style they play, grind, grind, grind, won't work if they do lose them, seemingly, but it is too early, down the road some

Carle seems like the type of guy to take a hometown discount to stay, considering in the beginning of his career he moved around quite a bit.

that's why I was thinking as well, the same as Coburn, he's been around & it didn't work out, but he's found his groove here

I'd think that might be towards the low end of what he "could" see if he hits the market.

But with an expiring CBA I would think that could be an issue to some teams not knowing how that will look going forward. Just a though, probably a wrong one.
