Not the greatest trade for Toronto unless Parise can play center.
- Holy_GM

He can play center. But he plays better at wing.

Apparently you didn't read what I said.

When you're trading for a UFA like Parise, a smart GM has the Devils negotiate an extension prior to the trade.

Pretty standard.

And yes, an Parise with a contract extension is ABSOLUTELY worth Schenn and Kadri....overrating your players a bit perhaps?

- Juice

What the (frank) are you talking about? I never said he wouldn't be worth it (if he had an extension) but he wouldn't be coming here with an extension you moron. Learn to read. Give me some examples of rental players who's GM renegotiated a deal while he was being traded.

Yeah, but according to this article, he wants to play for a cup contender, and TOR doesn't qualify at this time.
- WayneZ

If Toronto only has to give up Schenn and Kadri for Parise (which for the record I do not think for a second would happen) and you swapped Wilson for an actual good coach...then I'm ok with saying that the Leafs would be at the entry stage of contention. Not a Boston or Vancouver...but a SJ equivalent.

I think ZP is a little young to start chasing the cup.
Detroit would be scary if they managed to make this deal.
I'd prefer ZP to stay in the east

He hasn't played center for us yet, but who knows. I'm ok with him leaving. I just want a boat load of players coming back the other end. Hell i would take a bonafide #1 defender to skate alongside Larsson.
- WayneZ

How does Crabb (American, hard hitting, never gives up), Scrivens (takes over for Marty, same calibre of player, just not getting his shot yet), Komisarek (the American Scott Stevens) and a 2nd rounder?

tbh with how poopty Kulemin has been this year I'd rather have a scoring winger than a centre. Kulemin is sucking the life out of any line he plays on. Havnt seen someone miss so many open nets since Jonas Hoglund.

I try.

It's a no brainier as far as I'm concerned...if Lou offered that Burke would accept it immediately.

- Juice

Burke would laugh in his face unless he saw an extension.

Burke still needs a centre more than a winger, but you can't pass up a generational game changing force like this. Just like Kessel, I think an overpayment is due, but...a 1st, Kadri, Colborne, Gardiner (pick 2 of 3) and schenn or kulemin I'd probably still do in a heartbeat.

All based if extension is complete too. For a rental, he gets 1 prospect and a 3rd.

Yeah but not a slam dunk. If he wants a team that is a cup contender pending a move or two, he could just stay in NJ.

Played Center before he went pro, and has been a winger since he came in. Like you and I siad, he can play center, but he plays better on the wing.

Are you nuts? Were not cup contenders, even with Parise and there's zero guarantee he would sign with us. It would be a terrible trade
- SameOld

that trade would be toronto robbing the devils.

Dude you need to relax. Have you taken your meds today?

All I said was when you trade for a UFA, if you're a smart GM then you negotiate the extension before signing.

Are you ok? Do you want to chat about your issues over a nice cup of coffee?

Seriously, re-franking-lax.

Some? They were saying he should be a Vezina candidate and Calder candidate! And taht hed lead them to the playoffs!

And his cap hit is actually 5.66, and look at the standings, that'll show ya everything. Winning is the only thing that matters.

- FLYERSROCK!

Reimer? I would bet you can't find one person that said he should be a Vezina candidate.

Does that come with any sort of a money back guarantee? I seem to remember Stevens actually playing games. Komi, not so much.

You would trade a 1st (top 20), Kadri (#7), Colbourne (1st) and Schenn (#5) for a UFA to be in Parise?

Thank God Burke is our GM.
