If Parise is a UFA after this year, and he isn't happy, then all he has to do is leave in the summer?

Why signifcantly weaken the team he is going to by allowing a trade.

On the other hand, I guess he could agree to a trade with a contender this year, not caring about what futures they have to give up. He would only do that though if he was not sure he would re-sign.

... and if he is not sure he will re-sign, why would any team give up anywhere near what NJ would want for him as a rental?

He either re-signs or he walks in the summer is my guess
or Parise for Bobby Ryan?
or Parise for Suter+high pick?

I would guess teams are going to frenzy about it either during the trade deadline, and if he doesn't get moved then every team will be pushing to acquire his rights... difference being he doesn't have a no trade like Richards did. So no matter what Jersey will be able to get something for him even if he stays for the playoffs.

the reason they are making these trades is for depth because they have nothing after their top line, so yes my proposal satisfies the needs the team said they were looking for.

For getzlaf or Perry they want a core player in return ,Ryan is available for pick,s and young players. They wont move their front line center without recieving one back ,i bet the bank on it

All I say about Parise is this:

He resigns for 5 years, fabulous, perfect scenario.

If it comes trade deadline and they are off on money or terms, or didn't even talk about it, I want his ass dealt. Get what you can. I can face the facts, the Devils are not going to be good in the long run offensively without him. We need to replenish the offensive side of the puck, where we have no prospects. Defensively, we are loaded with a couple of top-end talents (Merrill, Urbom, Larsson) and we have a lot of guys that can come up to surprise in that 3/4 or 5/6 category. In goal, we have 3 solid goalie prospects.

If Parise walks as a UFA, this team is essentially screwed. We made the mistake with Nieds and Gionta, but part of that was because we were contenders at the time, if we keep winning, Lou is going to think we are contenders (which we are not) and he will try to keep Parise.....

and there was a core forward and D in my offer... two centers if you threw Colborne into it, I'm not sure what your arguing. I never said I would offer a prospects/picks packages for Getz...

my entire arguement was you have a top 5 goalie, that skews perceptions ... I then said in both stat categories. that still means you have a top 5 goalie, you were the only one to put numbers up on the subject.

Lundqvist is a great goalie, best in the league in my opinion. He has carried the team in years past and has been outstanding thus far. the defense deserves credit too. Girardi has been one of the most underrated players in the league. he is a rock. plays nearly 30 minutes a night, blocks shots, hits and never misses a game. Mcdonagh and dz both have been incredible too. shouldn't the goalies numbers be down if they played in front of a bad defense? especially GAA

Who was he Grab,s a ufa forward whom is decent but not 90+ plus first line decent,Coulbourne a nice but still unproven prospect and a the key piece being a good but having a bad year defensive defenseman.Sorry i dont see them being interested in this .Considering there would be at least half the league that would be putting a offer in for getzlaf,s services .How many of them would at least tie this offer ,or better yet blow it out of the water

there should be a roster lineup card when you come onto the threads. it would make things a lot easier.

No, thats what an elite goalie does champ. if he didn't do that, he would no longer be elite.

why would i trade one 90 pointer for another? Just because? if they swap getz for an equal player their depth problem doesn't go away, and if I'm trading a 90+ point getter, they aren't getting anything else.

Getz is having a bad year too. so how is it different circumstances for Schenn? and I'm sure teams could blow that deal out of the water, and they can if they want to, but it would be silly, I offered enough for it to be a good deal, but not enough to have my pants pulled down over the price. regardless of what else anaheim has in their cupboard, that deal is still on par or better than the deals Philly got. Philly established Market value for Getz. and Getz is only signed for 1 more season which drops value again. I'm working based on real market value, and you are basing it on assumptions.

no, thats why his numbers are declining. One thing you forget is I didn't say the Rangers defense was terrible, I never argued the players in the slightest, I said an elite goalie can make them seem better than they are. Confidence makes players better.

Lunqvuist is one of the best goalies the game right now, call him elite, whatever the (frank) you want, or say what you want to say about it, it is how it is.

They are not going to create a massive hole by trading away their top line center to aquire depth, they can move Ryan to do that Not to mention some other vets at the deadline they can move for picks. This team is going to cut bait and retool ,they can aquire some much needed depth by moving ryan and replacing him at the draft with one of those good russian wingers. What they cant replace at the draft and most likley through trade is a Top line center that can score 90+ points at the nhl level and carry a team to a cup win which they have in Getzlaf

Iam not trying to rain on your parade, but most of the talking heads out of toronto dont expect he will be moved

Gotta love leaf fans, nobody is great unless they are a 2nd rate undrafted NCAA player from the leafs.
