yes, we know Kaberle. massive overpayment
- wingz4life

They paid that because they knew they could sign him.

They decided they didn't want to. I doubt they offered $1mil to him.

Oh, and reeeelax.

Got a game tonight?

- B-Leaf

Our game was last night..lost 3-2...well 4-2 if you count the empty netter that I choose to ignore. Awesome game though.

Any chance you'll join us for the summer?

You don't really believe that the Leafs are better than the Rangers, Do You ????
- Graves#9

No. Their forwards have an edge, their defense is behind and their goaltending is far superior.

But with Parise we're close. And we would lose less pieces fitting him in.

But if TOR makes the playoffs I hope we face the Rangers

Pretty sure he said that the Leafs have owned the Rangers this year. If you want to add your own spin, that's fine.

One of the next three seasons. It'll be interesting to see what Lou does this season. The pick will probably be in the late teens, and we do have 3 extra picks (2nd, 4th, and 5th round). However, this is supposed to be a great draft class, and we don't want to miss out on a really good player in he first round for nothing. But if we don't give it up this year it really forces lou's hand.
- rmdevil313

Tough call. It's hard to say what that pick will look like in future years --- with Marty leaving/declining

So theyd end up giving up Luke Schenn and Kadri for sure, and more, but they'd be a top 3-4 team in the LEAGUE!? Ha!

He'd have to signed first or it would all be conditional.

No chance. Their defense and goaltending is overrated. Big time. Nice group of forwards if they did but they'd have to give up a lot to get him and I dont think they have what it takes to get him. Other teams have better packages and he isn't signing there in the offseason.
- Boinker

Any team in the league would love to have the Leafs Defense lineup. The problem is not the talent it is the system. They have the run and gun style that is fun to watch but does not fair as well for a deep playoff run.

The system has to be played perfect and have every player at top speed to work and does not work to sit back on. That is why the Leafs can not protect leads late in the game because their defensive system does not allow them to. The outlet pass or short chip is their way out of the zone. This is the problem with the PK as well as they have a hard time changing systems from different game situations. You can not play the entire game one way and selectively change for a couple shifts without occassionally encountering some lapses.

Martial Arts as an example: If I teach you all the moves and techniques that a black belt has learned you could most likely repeat what I do, but if you were away from me and someone attacked you, you would probably freeze up and forget or execute improperly. That is why it takes so long to achieve that black belt. The repetition makes you do the moves naturally, then turning it off becomes the discipline.

The Leafs are having a hard time doing what they have been taught to do naturally.

Wow, lots of misguided Leaf hate, take the glasses off guy, the team has as many top 5 point getters as vancouver. Lupul would be able to anchor the 2nd line like he was supposed to in Anaheim.

*note this is if there are no trades and he is an off season signing.
top 6 would be kessel-Connolly till er replace him-Parise
Lupul (on his correct wing) - Grabbo- Kulemin

Puts 5 guys capable of scoring 30 in our top 6. Give me a break if you try and tell me it wouldn't be a solid set. As for the defense, their average age is under 24... How can an under developed D core become overrated? Especially when everyone has been hacking the pk? Talk honestly, don't throw out blind hate, facts are facts.

Torontos goaltending is horrible, they would have to hope for a Vokoun deal.

Or it could be the goalie that's top 5 in both categories (or damn close) that is making it seem a lot better.

That Vokoun deal isn't really looking all that great so far even considering the paltry salary.

I personally want to thank the Vancouver Canucks. If I ever have to teach a player how to hustle off the ice, I'll show the video of one of the sisters fleeing off the ice in the boston game. Great teaching material
- SameOld

It was funny watching them get smacked around last year for the first little while, then it just got pathetic. I was hoping their moms would jump on the ice and stop the big kids from beating them up.

All jokes aside, The Bruins are the most intimidating team in hockey since the 70's. They could have jumped right in against the Flyers, Bruins and Leafs of that era and dominated with today's speed while not losing anything in toughness.
